Where do I even start? Maybe I should start at the fact that this story does have a happy ending, as you can probably tell from the photos. Although, it was fairly touch and go there for a little while (that part felt like a lifetime).
Katie and Avi have quite the story to tell the future generations about their wedding day. Everyone who was a part of it woke on Friday morning knowing there was rain predicted and were nervously conscious of the fact it had been absolutely bucketing down all night. None of us expected the day to be as challenging as it ended up being!
Avi’s day started in Brisbane with his family who had flown in. Between road cuts, two cars with family and friends breaking down, traffic, inches of rain on the ground and falling out of the sky, it was quite literally a race against time before the roads into Toowoomba were cut completely! Katie was understandably in a state watching the radar and the rain outside, wondering if her almost-husband would make it.
During this time, Katie also learned that their original photographer and their celebrant (me!) were both cut off from the world by torrents of water, Rachael Davies Celebrant and Andrew from Salt Studios Weddings saved the day.
Avi and his family were incredibly lucky to get through and there was a massive sigh of relief for everyone involved. Katie and Avi were going to get married, after all!
A HUGE thank you to Rachael who Katie and Avi said did such a great job. Rach got the ceremony script only a couple of hours before the ceremony, she had to format it, also to write up marriage certificates, dress up for a wedding, and get there while also managing her own family in this crazy weather and THEN read something written by someone else! Katie and Avi noted a few of their guests said they didn’t realise she wasn’t their original celebrant as she slotted in so well.
A shout out to Bri at Preston Peak Functions who kept me informed while calmly and seamlessly handling a situation that just kept unfolding in front of her; from staff not being able to make it, to unimaginable amounts of phone calls and logistical nightmares! I hear Matt got a bit wet in the rain, too..
I ask; keeping in mind that the past year or so pandemic-wise has been a bit hairy, do these two look like they went through all of that? No way, they look bloody amazing! 😍
Congratulations Katie and Avi! There was absolutely nothing that could stop you from getting married on Friday and you will never forget it (your guests will agree!). I’m so sad I missed it, but these photos from Andrew at Salt make my heart burst! ❤️
