The power goes out at 7pm. The kids are in the bath. Where's the torch? 🔦⚡

Storm season is here on the Darling Downs, and blackouts always seem to hit at the worst moment. A few small changes now can make the next one a non-event:

💡 Emergency lights in hallways and stairs automatically come on the second the power drops.
🌩️ After hail, check your solar panels from the ground. Spot cracks? Never climb up, call a solar installer.
🔌 Know how to shut your solar system down in case you ever want or need to.
💧 Water near power points or the switchboard? Stay well clear and call us.

🔋 Got solar? A home battery set up with backup can keep your essentials running when the grid goes down.

Your ceiling fan has a secret setting… and most people never touch it. 🤫

If your fan doesn't feel like it's doing much, it might be spinning the wrong way for the season:

☀️ Summer: anti-clockwise. Pushes air straight down so you feel a cool breeze.
❄️ Winter: clockwise, on low. Gently moves the warm air that collects near the ceiling back down.

How to change it: look for a small switch on the motor housing, or a reverse button on the remote. Always turn the fan off and let it stop completely first. 👆

Not sure which way yours is going? Stand underneath it on high. Feel a breeze? You're in summer mode. 😎

And here's the money bit: a ceiling fan costs just cents an hour to run, while air-con costs far more. Use them together and you can set the air-con a few degrees warmer and still feel comfortable. 💸

We LOVE Voltex & their products! They've never let us down with warranty support the 17 years or so we've been using their products & they're really nice people too! Now they're giving away ceiling fans.
If you know a worthy organisation that could do with a ceiling fan, pop their name in the Voltex post.

Know of a spot that needs a cooling upgrade for summer? A community hall, a charity house, a childcare centre.

This Friday Leanne Phillips will be taking on the 50km Coastrek Sunshine Coast challenge, walking from Noosa to Mooloolaba (what TERRIBLE scenery :)) Electrical Sensations is proud to sponsor & support Leanne on the walk to help Beyond Blue support people battling depression, anxiety & mental health challenges.

But, Coastrek is not just a one day walk. It’s the culmination of months of training, lllooonnnggg walks, early mornings & tired legs.

Leanne has teamed up with Annemarie Lyons from Health by Numb3rs to take on the challenge. Team "1 Step At A Time" is symbolic of how people manage mental health issues. 1 moment at a time. 1 day at a time. 1 step at a time.

Leanne & Annemarie will push their bodies through pain & discomfort for a few hours, knowing that there's a finish line & light at the end of the tunnel. But people battling depression & anxiety, they can't always see that light....

A walk on the beautiful Sunshine Coast - sounds like a GREAT idea!

Leanne Phillips is lacing up the walking boots and taking on the 50km CoastTrek Sunshine Coast Challenge in support of Beyond Blue in just a couple of weeks' time💙

The training has been underway for months & many kilometres have already been clocked up — with plenty of early starts, classic Toowoomba fog, sore legs, blisters, whinges and laughs along the way. Annmarie from Health by Numb3rs is the other half of team “1 Step At A Time” – a name symbolic of how mental health is managed.
1 moment at a time.
1 day at a time.
1 Step At A Time.

In Australia, around 5 million people are living with anxiety and depression, and almost half of us will experience a mental health condition during our lifetime. Every day, hundreds of Australians reach out to Beyond Blue for support when life feels overwhelming. Taking a 50km stroll is the least we can do to help the organisation that might just help our family, friends or even ourselves in the future!

The goal? Crossing that 50km finish line knowing we’ve helped make a difference.
