The Fair Work Commission has announced significant wage increases that will take effect from 1 July 2026.

The National Minimum Wage will increase by 5.97%, while minimum award wages will increase by 4.75%.

If your business employs staff under modern awards, these changes may affect wage rates, allowances, penalties, overtime and payroll compliance requirements.

We've summarised the key changes and outlined what employers should be doing now to prepare.

📢 Reminder: Payday Super is coming

From 1 July 2026, super contributions must be paid at the same time as wages — not quarterly.

💡 What this means for employers:
• Super paid on payday
• Payments must reach the fund within 7 business days
• Stricter penalties for late or missed contributions
• New “qualifying earnings” rules for calculating SG
• SBSCH closing — time to transition

⏳ Now is the time to prepare: review your payroll systems, cashflow, and processes to ensure you're ready.

Getting ahead now will help avoid errors, delays, and penalties later.
