🔥 MELBOURNE FIREFIGHTER STAIR CLIMB 2026 🔥

What an awesome weekend taking on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb, climbing 28 floors in full firefighting gear weighing 25kg,to raise money and awareness for Lifeline, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000 Foundation.

And this year the event hit an absolutely incredible milestone, with more than $1 MILLION raised! 👏🔥

We had five of us representing Torquay, and there were some seriously impressive efforts across the crew.

🚒 PERI
Second year around and managed a 30 second PB 🙌. Still wasn’t quite enough to take the overall win 😂, but managed to win the old-ladies age category 🥇👵 and finish 3rd female overall in the Donned & Started category.

🚒 AARON
First stair climb and came out HOT 🔥 with a smoking time of 4:28. Possibly cooked himself a little early 😂 but ploughed on to the top and finished 7th for his category and an incredible 9th overall for firefighters on air. Huge first effort!

🚒 STU
First ever stair climb and absolutely smashed it! Got himself all the way to the top and did bloody amazing. First one officially in the bank! 👊

🚒 JARED
Not only smashed out his first stair climb but went and took out the fastest time OVERALL for any firefighter off air!! 🥇🔥 in an insane time of 4:02. What a weapon!

🚒 JACKSON
The experienced one of the group! Another stair climb survived after many years of putting himself through this madness 😂 and even better, beat his time from last year. Still getting faster!

Such a great event to be part of, surrounded by firefighters and emergency service personnel pushing themselves for something much bigger than a finishing time.

Over $1 million raised for three incredible organisations. That’s the real win. ❤️Torquay Fire Brigade contributing over $4,500 of that.

Pretty bloody proud of our little Torquay crew. 🔥🚒💪

On 12 September, a crew from Torquay Fire Brigade will take on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb — 28 floors in full firefighting gear to raise funds and awareness for the fight against cancer, depression and su***de.

As first responders, these causes are incredibly important to us. We see firsthand the impact they can have on individuals, families, emergency service workers and the wider community.

Burning continues through winter across the Barwon South west Region.

Want to receive a text or email when planned burns are happening near you?

Sign up for alerts on the Planned Burns Victoria website www.vic.gov.au/plannedburns.

If weather and forest conditions are right, firefighters will light the following burns in the coming days:

📍Anglesea – Anglesea Heath (135 hectares) North of Gum Flats Road
📍Anglesea – Harrison South Track (38 hectares)
📍Ocean Grove - Nature Reserve – Banksia Track (32 hectares) North of Curthbertson Track

In the cooler months, crews move into heathland areas where vegetation dries out more quickly and can still be safely burnt. These smaller burns help create a patchwork of different vegetation stages across the landscape.

Without planned burning and other fuel management works, bushfires will be bigger and harder for our firefighters to control.

Unexpected weather conditions can mean plans change at the last minute and a burn may not go ahead, even if communities have already been notified. When this happens, our crews will continue to monitor the conditions and re-schedule the burn for a later date
