One of the fun traditions in our chapter is the weekly Door Prize draw. The door prize is donated by the featured speaker that week.

But how do you get your name in the hat?

Simple!

Every referral slip you submit earns you an entry into the draw. The more referrals you generate, the more chances you have to win.

Not only are referrals a key part of helping fellow members grow their businesses, but they could also see you walking away with some fantastic prizes.

This week's Bernie's challenge was all about knowing your fellow members' businesses and taglines.

Members were asked to educate the room on their best referral while incorporating another member's tagline into their presentation. It was fantastic to see just how well everyone knows and supports each other's businesses.

One tagline that received plenty of attention was Lee from Gallivanter Travel:

✈️ *"Expertly Crafted Journeys"*

It was great to hear so many members weaving it into their referrals and demonstrating how seriously we take learning about each other's businesses.

Congratulations to this week's winner, James Rudd from Sarinas Legal 🎉

James impressed everyone by somehow managing to incorporate almost every member in the room into his referral presentation, showcasing exactly what BNI is all about—building connections, understanding businesses, and creating opportunities for one another.

💡 EDUCATION MOMENT OF THE WEEK 💡

One of the things that makes our BNI chapter special is that every meeting includes a valuable education segment designed to help us become better business owners and professionals.

This week, Eloise from Healthy Minds NQ challenged the room with a simple but powerful question:

👉 What's the best business advice you've ever received?
👉 What's the worst?

The responses sparked fantastic discussion:

⭐ Jess from Jess Whaites - Whaites + Co shared that the worst advice she received was *"Don't start a real estate agency."* Thankfully, she ignored it and is now an award-winning real estate professional.

⭐ Phil's from NQ Commercial Photography worst advice was being told to spend $20,000 on advertising as a startup.

⭐ Marguerite's from Walsh Legal Group best advice was *"Just roll it out – it doesn't need to be perfect."*

⭐ Vito's from Who can the Handyman best advice was simply *"Be yourself."*

⭐ Matt reminded us that *"No great things come from sitting where you're comfortable."*

And perhaps one of the most relatable lessons of all:

💭 *"The customer is always right... but they don't always need to be your client."*

Every week our members learn something new from each other, proving that the collective wisdom in the room is one of the greatest benefits of BNI.

"What business or person in that business would you like to connect with?"
The responses were outstanding.
What stood out wasn't just the quality of the referral requests, but how many members in the room could immediately say:
👉 "I know that person."
👉 "I can introduce you."
👉 "I have a connection there."
That's the power of BNI.
When you're surrounded by professionals who are actively looking for opportunities to help one another, amazing things happen.

☕ Another fantastic Friday morning at BNI! ☕

This week's featured presentation was delivered by **Marguerite from Walsh Legal Group**, and while we learned more about the services she provides professionally, one of the most memorable parts of her presentation was hearing about the incredible life she and her family have built outside of work.

From raising a busy family to travelling the world together and creating unforgettable experiences, it was a wonderful reminder that behind every business owner is a unique story, passions, and a life beyond the office.

One of the things that makes BNI special is that we don't just get to know what people do — we get to know who they are.

We also celebrated a bittersweet moment as we said goodbye to Natasha from Boost Marketing Services. Natasha has been a valued member of our chapter, and we wish her every success in her next adventure, moving back to Melbourne to be closer to family and her beloved Gelong Cats.

Of course, no farewell would be complete without cake! 🎂

Thank you to everyone who joined us for another great morning of connection, learning, laughter, and support.
