With the wet season fast approaching and Swampy’s workload ramping up, we thought we’d put our air-conditioning skills to the test and fit her out with a complete custom A/C system! ❄️🔧
This wasn’t your standard bolt-on job either!
Starting with inclosing the cab. We double-layered and insulated the rear cab wall, fabricated a custom evaporator box with recirculation, built a compressor mount to suit a correctly sized compressor, and fitted a roof-mounted condenser with thermo fan.
We also fabricated and fitted new doors and installed windows to fully enclose the cab.
The best part? Every bit of this build was completed in-house by our team, apart from having the doors press folded.
We took Swampy out for her first proper test run today, and she didn't miss a beat! Not a single issue or adjustment needed. Everything worked exactly as planned.
We take a lot of pride in our equipment, and we're always looking at ways to improve it. Not just to get the job done, but to make sure our operators have the best possible working environment, especially heading into another hot North Queensland wet season! ☀️🌧️

🔧💪 MINIMISING DOWNTIME – THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!

Over the last few months, this Kobelco has been battling ongoing DPF dramas.

Our team worked through extensive troubleshooting, from checking valve clearances, injector trimming, correct engine oil specifications, regeneration cycles and plenty more.
After exhausting the usual checks, enough was enough! It was time to get the DPF assembly out and give it a proper clean.

🔧 Saturday: Removed the complete DPF assembly.

Over the weekend: DPF cleaned, removing the built-up soot and carbon deposits.

🔧 Monday: Reinstalled the assembly, connected our diagnostic service tool and carried out a successful forced regeneration.
All fault codes cleared and the Kobelco was back moving dirt! 💪

A 3-day job that only cost our client half a day's downtime! That's the difference planning ahead and putting in the weekend hours can make.

⚠️ DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTERS (DPF) – DON'T BE MISLED!

Like any filter, a DPF has a service life. Regenerations can burn off soot, but they don't remove all the ash and other deposits that build up over time. Sometimes a proper clean or replacement is what's needed to get things operating correctly again.
At PMR, we're not just about clearing fault codes and sending machines back out. We're about finding the cause, getting the job done properly and keeping our clients working.
