Well done Meg 👏
The nomination below was submitted to Football Queensland for the Female Football Week Awards. Although FQ selected another worthy candidate, we still want to recognise the outstanding work Meg has been doing behind the scenes at our club. Please join us in thanking Meg for all her efforts—she is, in our view, SESFC’s FFW Volunteer of the Year. After reading the nomination information below, we’re sure you’ll all agree.
If you spot Meg at the park today, be sure to say THANK YOU, MEG!
Nomination for 2026 Female Football Week Volunteer of the Year – Meghann O’Donnell
I am pleased to nominate Meghann O’Donnell from Saints Eagles Souths Football Club (SESFC) for the 2026 Female Football Week Awards – Volunteer of the Year.
Meg is an exceptionally deserving candidate whose contribution to football at SESFC spans multiple roles and many years of dedicated service. She has been a MiniRoos team manager for many seasons, served as the club Registrar for the past three years, and is an active and valued member of the club committee.
Meg’s playing journey reflects her passion for the game. She joined the Girls United program at its inception and progressed into competitive football, stepping into the Division 1 Women’s team last year. Her commitment both on and off the field sets a strong example for players across all levels.
In 2025 & 2026, Meg has further expanded her already significant volunteer contribution, elevating the club’s social media presence through creative and engaging content. She successfully secured sponsorship for the club’s training shirts and was instrumental in design collaboration. Her ability to connect with the community and promote the club has been invaluable.
Meg is also one of SESFC’s 2026 ambassadors for the Women’s & Girls Forum, where she plays a key role in advocating for the growth, visibility, and equitable treatment of female players within the club. She is a passionate and proactive leader, consistently championing initiatives that support women’s and girls’ football.
Her impact is especially evident during Female Football Week. Meg designed the club’s 2026 Female Football Week shirts and has taken the lead in organising celebrations, including event planning, promotional materials, and community engagement activities. Her enthusiasm inspires others to get involved and fosters a strong sense of inclusion and pride across the club.
Balancing her extensive volunteer work with family and professional commitments is no small feat. As a mother of four boys—each actively involved in MiniRoos and junior competitive football—Meg’s connection to the game is deeply rooted, and her commitment to its future is unwavering.
