Dry Saturday, light winds. That’s gutter weather. ☀️

Cyclone season officially starts on 1 November, so today’s a good one to knock over a few yard jobs while it’s dry. Three easy ones straight off the council’s prep list:

🪜 Clean out the gutters and downpipes.
🌳 Trim back the trees and overhanging branches.
🪑 Put away the loose outdoor furniture, before the wind finds it.

One thing on the branches: anything growing near the powerlines, leave to a professional tree trimmer. Not a DIY job.

Plenty more where that came from at Get Ready Townsville, free at Riverway this arvo from 3 till 6, with emergency services and prep experts on hand. Stick around after for the free outdoor movie. 🎬

Then there’s the empties pile by the back door. It’s not on the council’s list, but it’s the easiest job of the lot, and the only one that pays you back. Just bring them in. 10c for every eligible container, and you can keep it or donate it to a cause you care about. 💚

Every bit of it got to your street because somebody brought it there, in the Townsville heat, whatever the day was doing. ☀️ Most of us only catch them for a second. A glimpse through the window, the clunk of the letterbox lid.
