Check this out! Australian Sailing recently held their fourth Para-wing foiling camp here in Townsville and we were honoured to host the team and participants at Breakwater. It's exciting to see new skills and inclusive watersports getting even more people out on the water just off the beautiful Strand. Well done to all and great photos!

Good morning Marina Community -
We’ve received notice from Townsville Port that their Annual maintenance dredging of their shipping channel starts again today and will run 24/7 for approximately 4 weeks.
⚠️ All boaties are asked to keep 100m clear of the dredge vessel "Brisbane" and its support vessels, these operations will be running all day and night for 4 weeks.

Annual maintenance dredging will begin on Monday 17 August 2026, in Cleveland Bay with TSHD Brisbane removing natural sediment from the shipping channel to ensure vessels can safely access the Port to provide essential goods to our region.

It will occur 24 hours a day, seven days a week for approximately four weeks.

Boaties are advised to stay at least 100ms away from the Brisbane and support vessels.

Meet Maca, & "Maca"!
Maca (Mackenzie) recently joined the Breakwater team working alongside Brit on our busy front desk, another smiling face to welcome you to the Marina office 👋
The other 'Maca' is a juvenile turtle that was rescued early this morning from our busy Fuel Wharf and taken away for assessment by Turtle Rescue volunteers. We hopefully will get updates and we were asked to name her/him so 'Maca' it was!
If you see an injured or floating turtle that's not looking too well, make sure to contact local Park Rangers or Wildlife carers as soon as you can with your location so they can find help and advise what to do next. In a busy Marina entrance with many boats coming and going, we were lucky to retrieve this sick turtle out of the way quickly.
🐢💚 We wish 'Maca' the turtle a speedy recovery and welcome Maca to our busy Marina world at Breakwater!

Breakwater Marina is excited to host Australian Sailing as the Para Inclusive Wing Development Camp arrives here in Townsville, marking the fourth and final stop of the national development series.
We advise our Marina customers, vessel owners and operators that the Loading Wharf is reserved over the next 4 days for participants, coaches and volunteers.
The Fuel Wharf is open as usual over these 4 days. If you are wishing to come in to fill up or use the Fuel Wharf, you can call Marina Staff on Channel 10 VHF if you need assistance.

Someone asked me today what does The Marine Guys actually do. No quick answer to that as over thirty years of experience in the industry you tend to pick up a few things. We do mainly onboard systems these days. With very well established connections to marine suppliers and service agents we can supply, service and repair most things on your boat. Another thing that this experience brings is knowing who can do it well if we cannot. We stay with what we do well and get the right people for everything else. For decades I have seen new businesses come and go in this industry and they usually leave a trail of destruction behind them when they leave.
