When we see clients with dysfunctional joint mechanics, there is quite often an element of restriction created by our nervous system to tighten soft tissue around the unstable joint for additional support.

By releasing this soft tissue and directly reducing pain, we can then implement a resistive exercise plan to retrain the support structures in a functional manner โœ”๏ธ

Skeletal alignment for optimal loading โ›“๏ธ

In todays society, we are seeing a dramatic increase in pain, musculoskeletal injury, and irregular degradation to joints and soft tissue structures.

The image above shows on the left what sitting for long hours can do to the way our joints are stacked up.

Think of your muscles, ligaments and tendons like puppet strings pulling our skeletons into particular positions as we walk, run, sit or stand. If those strings (muscles) become too rigid in certain areas, the joints no longer move through there full ranges allowing a reset of normal joint alignment to then be loaded correctly. Whether itโ€™s just the forces of gravity that are placed on our body, carrying additional weight (external or internal), and of course reaction force from the ground we stand on!

Hi there! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ I thought it was time to re-direct this page to help anyone interested in working to reduce pain, heal from injury, and gain some tips around holistic health principles!

My name is Claire and Iโ€™m an accredited exercise physiologist of 16 years, a remedial therapist, holistic nutritionist and have a passion for the use of Pilates as an all rounder method of movement โ™ป๏ธ

I specialise in treating complex sub-acute and chronic musculoskeletal injury and pain, as well as providing safe and effective exercise prescription from chronic disease, all the way through to high level sporting performance ๐ŸŒฟ

I see patients out of a clinic room in Tugun for remedial therapies, assessment and basic take home exercise prescription, and also run private and group Pilates based classes from another premise in Kirra, Queensland ๐Ÿ’š

Technique and motor control to engage the correct muscles is always going to be more important than how much weight you can lift when it comes to health and fitness.

Tip - if you canโ€™t effectively do an overhead squat with a light bar, then your torso might need some work stabilising first before loading up the bar!

- Acute inflammation is a necessary process within the body
- If it becomes Chronic (over 3 days) it spreads systemically through the body creating oxidative damage to cells
- Omega 3 of doses greater than 2gms is recommended to help reduce the damage and curb long term inflammation.
