Ayres Rocks Naturally

Ayres Rocks Naturally Ayres Rocks is the property of our dreams. 3 years ago we gave up all the stuff you're suppoed to have to be happy in pursuit of a sustainable lifestyle.

We are in the middle of building our home out of mud, to be powered by the sun and a couple of small wind turbines. Off the property we are growing several thousand trees so we can kick start a combination permaculture/bio dynamic farm that will be soley focused on producing outstanding quality meat, fruit and veg. Our goal is to have a farm with close to nil conventional inputs and certainly with zero chemical input.

We had almost 40mm of rain fall over the past weekend. Our dirt and sand piles for building with are more like earth slushies and it's unlikely we'll get anything done until after Xmas - providing we don't get anymore downpours. Happy silly season to all!

So the house for those that are interested..... it's made of mud, the subsoil that was excavated for the slab. The subsoil is stabilised with sharp sand to reduce the clay content and 9% white cement by volume is added to improve weathering.

The doors and windows will be hand crafted from recycled hardwood and fitted with bushfire compliant glazing and screens. All interior woodwork, including kitchen, laundry and bathroom cabinets and benchtops will also be recycled hardwoods.

As you might be working out, this is a house with theme - reuse and recycle.
