Our works at The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) are now complete.

This is a refined, high performance campus which is evolving with intention, craft and architectural ambition.

Delivered alongside Rohrig Betti & Knut, Northrop Consulting Engineers and Big River Group the project reflects a shared commitment to precision and material integrity.

Within the new PassivHaus Certified structure, our scope centred on two meticulously executed elements:

1. External timber cladding: warm, textural and installed with the accuracy required for airtight, thermal performance
2. Aluminium louvres and window surrounds: clean architectural lines that frame light and reinforce the building’s rhythm.

PassivHaus construction is a discipline of detail. A quiet pursuit of airtightness, insulation continuity and performance driven design. Our role sits at the intersection of craft and engineering, where every junction, line and tolerance contributes to the building’s overall efficiency.

TIGS demanded that level of finesse and the result is a structure that performs as beautifully as it presents.

The finished building is comfortable, healthy and inherently sustainable. A learning environment that reduces energy use and carbon emissions while elevating the everyday experience of its occupants. It’s a forward thinking project shaped by a forward thinking team and Savcon is proud to have played a part in bringing it to life.

A temporary site set up may not be the most glamorous stage of a build, but it’s one of the most important.

Our Luddenham project is moving efficiently, supported by for timber, Roofing Supermarket for sheeting and Roof Stylers as our installation partner.

It’s the second major set up we’ve delivered this year, following the successful Liverpool School project.

Strong construction always begins with strong foundations. Temporary amenities, hoardings, access points and safety infrastructure shape how a site functions long before the main works begin. When these elements are executed well, the entire project benefits from smoother workflows, safer conditions and a more productive environment.

This is the quiet work that sets the tone for everything that follows. Delivering reliable, well‑planned site facilities ensures major projects start with clarity, order and momentum.

Good luck to the crew on site for the remainder of the project.

Savcon is proud to stand behind the 2026 “All In Together” campaign for Construction Safety Week. It’s a reminder that safety is not just a slogan, but a responsibility we share on every site, every day.

This year’s focus on recognising, responding to, and respecting hazardous work, aligns strongly with the way we operate. Construction carries significant risks and responsibilities and ensuring our people go home safe remains our non‑negotiable.

To support this commitment, Savcon relies on Procore Technologies as our central platform for managing safety processes, documentation and compliance. Its real‑time visibility and streamlined workflows help our teams stay accountable, informed and aligned across every project.

Savcon continues to use Construction Safety Week as an opportunity to strengthen our safety culture and reinforce the controls that keep our sites safe.

We are "All In Together" for the safety of every worker who steps onto a Savcon site.

PROGRESS AT QUEEN STREET

Responsible for design and construction at 450 Queen Street, sitting high above Brisbane’s busiest commercial strip, a distinctive new chapter is taking place. The refurbishment and vertical extension of the CBD tower is now well underway, with the building’s uppermost two levels being reimagined in a bold 'timber first' approach that signals a shift in how Australia’s cities are being built.

Led by Buildcorp and designed by FK Australia, the project will see levels 23 and 24 constructed entirely from Australian sourced timber, creating a lightweight, sustainable crown atop the existing structure. Structural engineering is being delivered by Inertia Engineering, with
Ironwood Engineering providing specialist timber expertise and materials supplied by Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH) and Next Timber. European systems supplier Rothoblaas is also contributing to the delivery.

As our project team settles into Brisbane life, momentum on site continues to build. The timber extension, poised at the very top of the tower, is intended as both a technical achievement and a symbolic one. A refined “jewel in the crown” for Queen Street, marrying low carbon materials with contemporary design at one of the city’s most prominent addresses.

We look forward to showing you our progress in the coming months

The University of Tasmania’s Forestry Building closes a chapter makes us feel both proud and quietly nostalgic.

What began for Savcon in October 2023, our introduction to Hobart’s remarkable landscape and its generous community, now stands complete, embodied in a building of elegance, detail and enduring beauty.

This project brought together a team whose craft shaped every line and surface: Hansen Yunken leading construction, Woods Bagot guiding the architectural vision, and JMG Engineers & Planners delivering the structural clarity that underpins it all. With ASH supplying the timber and Savcon entrusted with its installation, the building became a shared expression of precision and respect for materiality.

Looking back, it feels like more than a project. It was a moment in time marked by collaboration, learning and the quiet satisfaction of seeing something stunning rise from intention to reality.

We are certain this building will bring joy in learning for students, staff and visitors alike. Congratulations to all involved.

World Health Day on 7 April 2026 marks the anniversary of the World Health Organisation, founded in 1948. It is a moment to recognise global health awareness and to acknowledge the dedication of the health care workers who support our communities in times of need.

This year’s official theme, “Together for health. Stand with science.”, reinforces the importance of collaboration, evidence based practice and the ongoing pursuit of better health outcomes for all.

Savcon is proud to have contributed to the development of major health care facilities across Australia, including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Westmead Hospital, St Luke’s Health Headquarters Launceston, the New Royal Adelaide Hospital, Northern Beaches Hospital, St George Private Hospital, Bupa and St Brigid Green Aged Care. These projects reflect our commitment to supporting environments where world‑class care can thrive.
