Well, all of my hard earned sweat and energy deposits I committed to over the last few months, has presently, been all in vain. My brother, my nephew Will Styman, and I were all due to leave this Saturday to walk the Kokoda but not now.
Unfortunately, negotiations are still ongoing and the track will remain closed indefinitely. Am I sad, disappointed? Yes ... but ... my body is not.
For the last couple of weeks, I felt smashed, My knees, my legs, my body were in pain. So many hills climbed, combined with a good weight in the back pack, so many dunes, so many hours. That's what you have to do be prepped and ready. But, heck, I've slept like a baby for the last week, once word was out.
Let's see what 2025 brings and what will happen for local land owners. Maybe one day, we'll get there and see just what endurance is really made of.
