‘We run a family business that treats your business like family.’
That’s the motto York Stationers lives by. At the helm of this stationery business that’s going places is diehard family man, Jeff Houseman. Jeff’s strong family values spill over into his working environment. He considers his staff, Darryl and Mathew, family. Clearly, they’re happy in this role, having been part of the York Station
ers team for some twenty-five and nineteen years, respectively. Mathew is a racing car enthusiast. Certainly, this can be a bit hard on the York Stationers van, but it also means a record number of deliveries per day, all in record time. Darryl is a painting aficionado. A bit like Michelangelo, Darryl painted the ceiling and walls of the York Stationers office. But unlike Michelangelo, he painted the floor, he artfully used one block colour, and he did it all with a roller. Although Jeff’s wife, Paula, is a silent partner in the business, as Director of Marketing, she has the most to say. Then there are the suppliers. Ever loyal to his suppliers, Jeff has established relationships with many that have stood the test of time. And several sales reps (and retired reps) have become part of the York Stationers family. Some are regulars at the annual York Stationers Melbourne Cup lunch, and also take part in the yearly York Stationers footy tipping competition. But without its valued customers — its extended family — there would be no York Stationers. Providing a high level of personalised service, York Stationers has built an easy and warm rapport with its long-standing clientele, and it endeavours to foster the same kind of relationships with new customers. At the same time though, the York Stationers team remains professional in all its dealings. So, for the more mature consumer, who wants to revisit good old-fashioned service, or for the younger consumer, who wants to experience it, perhaps for the first time, consider York Stationers as a preferred office supplier.
