The humidity has hit, the winds are up and storms are brewing. This means flying termites (Alates) are on the way!
🔴Winged Termites - head & abdomen (2 parts)
🔴Winged Ants - head, thorax & abdomen (3 parts)
When there is humidity, storms brewing and it's nearing dusk, termites with wings (alates) will leave the nest and swarm trying to start a new colony.
The majority of these flying termites will drop, loose their wings & die.
Flying Termites will be attracted to light, just like moths.
Things you can do to lessen the chance of swarms flying into your home are:
🔴Seal gaps,
🔴Close windows, garage roller door & doors inside the home.
🔴Turn off porch lights & lights that aren't needed inside.
🔴Draw blinds/curtains.
