Some creations stay with me long after they leave my studio, like these two Cami Bear's created for beautiful Ella, whose time here ended far too soon.

Over the last 6 months, her lovely Mum and I carefully planned every detail of these. From the rainbow coloured wildflowers that she loved so much, Ella's precious cat JoJo and Forget-Me-Nots, echoed in the fairy’s hand, that represent a deep loving bond that can never be broken.

These bears are more than cremation urns. They are a place for memories, for tears, for loving hugs that hold the bond between a mother and daughter that will continue forever.

To this beautiful family, thank you for trusting me with creating a place for Ella to rest in your arms ❤️ and give comfort to your broken hearts.

Today is my Dads Memorial, where we are placing his ashes next to Mum in a beautiful rainforest garden. I made a sweet bear so some of his ashes can go back to his homeland NZ. Looking forward to being together with my family today as we celebrate Dad's life🥹.

I've been a little quiet on social media lately. On the 12th of February I lost my dad. He was 91, yet it still felt unexpected. I was honoured to be with him as he passed, but it's been a journey coming to terms with the fact that now both my Mum and Dad have passed. I've been reflecting on my younger years and how patient they were with this teenager and knowing they helped shape the person I am today.

Running Cami Bear has always come from a deeply personal place. I started this business 13 years ago after losing my Mum, wanting to create something gentle and comforting for families navigating grief.

Losing Dad has reminded me again why this work matters so much.❤️

Over the years I’ve shared some of the beautiful memorial bears and urns I’ve made, with permission from families. But I’ve remembered that behind every piece is a story, a memory, and a lot of love.❤️

So as I slowly return to this space, I want to share more about the meaning behind what I do — not just the pieces themselves.

Recently, I’ve had the privilege of working with Kathy from Harris Wood Creative Studio. Kathy creates beautiful handmade gifts, memorial jewellery and keepsakes, and I’m honoured that she will soon be offering Cami Bears as part of her collection.

Over the last couple of school terms, I was asked to be a mentor to Alicia as part of her year 9 school project. We use to be neighbours and knowing about Cami Bear, Alicia asked me to teach her how to sew a teddy bear from scratch. We spent regular Saturday mornings together chatting and learning to use a sewing machine, pin & unpick fluffy fabric 😩, hand sew and slowly our cute bears came together. Alicia even had a beautiful idea to put special secret notes inside our teddies💜🩷. They were presented at the mentor project presentation yesterday. Alicia did so well and everyone was very impressed with her bear. Thanks Alicia for being a fab sewing student, being so patient when it got tricky and so willing to learn. Who knew sewing teddy bears was so fun?! 🙋🏻‍♀️
