Congratulations to Future Founders alumnus Max Tas on the opening of his new premises for S**k n' Span! 🎉

Max has grown his business to employ more than 20 staff and continues to go from strength to strength.

Max credits Innovation Cluster's Future Founders program with helping him set goals, focus on growth and learn the language of business.

We're proud to have been part of his entrepreneurial journey. A huge thank you to the City of Busselton for supporting Future Founders through the Business Development, Events and Marketing Program (BDEMP), helping us empower the next generation of young entrepreneurs.

The City of Busselton has endorsed the latest round of funding through its Business Development, Events and Marketing Program (BDEMP), with $76,000 allocated across four projects supporting local business growth and economic development.

The latest funding recipients include Creative Corner Inc., Busselton Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inspire and Collaborate, and the Margaret River Wine Association.

City of Busselton Mayor Phill Cronin said the program was designed to ensure the differential rate generated benefits for the wider business community.

"The program is empowering local businesses while ensuring the differential rate delivers meaningful outcomes," Mayor Cronin said.

"This stream of funding has enabled our local business community greater input into how the differential rate is spent.

"To foster collaboration, leverage additional investment and support industry development, this funding is designed to benefit the broader business community."

Among the initiatives supported through the program is Innovation Cluster's Future Founders program, which supports entrepreneurs aged between 16 and 25 through mentoring, leadership development and business training.

One of the program's success stories is Busselton entrepreneur Max Tas, who launched cleaning business S**k n' Span as a teenager and has since grown it to employ more than 20 staff.

"When I started, all I had was a mop in the back of my car and a goal to grow the business. I didn't know where to begin," Mr Tas said.

After joining the Future Founders mentoring program, Mr Tas said it helped him "set goals, focus on growth and learn the language of business".

Now a member of the Busselton Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Tas said he hoped his journey would inspire other young people to pursue business opportunities locally.

What happens when explorers, scientists, investors, founders, artists and policymakers come together in regional Western Australia?

Last week at Caves House, Yallingup, we brought together an incredible group of innovators to explore how regional communities can lead the next wave of industry, technology and bio-innovation 💡🌿✨

From polar expeditions to marine bioprospecting, agtech startups to greentech moonshots, the conversations throughout the day showed just how much innovation is already happening outside major cities.

Tim Jarvis AM opened with a powerful keynote on Resilient Futures, reminding us that leadership is about creating environments where people feel safe to bring problems — and propose solutions.

Huge thanks to our MC Amy Carter-James, City of Busselton Deputy Mayor Kate Cox and Min Stephen Dawson for their reflections reinforcing the importance of regional innovation to WA’s future, and all speakers, partners and attendees who helped make the day such a success.

If this Summit showed us anything, it’s that regional WA isn’t just participating in innovation — it’s leading it 🙌

The Regional Innovation Summit is a BioInnovation Festival Satellite Event, Delivered by Connected Futures & Innovation Cluster, and supported by City of Busselton Economic Development Grants, South West Development Commission through the Innovative Industries of the Future Program, GreenTech Hub, Department of Energy and Economic Diversification through the CONNECT Sustainable Industries program and nbn® Australia. The Collision Cleanser Sundowner is brought to you by Creative Tech Village.

Great turnout today at the Pre-Summit Agovor & Datavit Pty Ltd Demo at Margaret River Vineyard Estate as part of the regional component of the BioInnovation Festival program!

Attendees saw a live robotic demonstration in the vineyard showcasing Agovor's robots mowing and spraying in action, alongside Datavit’s smart data platform highlighting how real-time insights can support more productive and sustainable farming.

A big thanks to Datavit for presenting their platform and Agovor for the live robotics demo in a real vineyard setting 🍇
