At PhysioXtra, Clinical Pilates is so much more than exercise, it’s a key part of how we help people recover from injury, move well, and stay strong as they age.
Director Kathryn Chigwidden has long been passionate about the role Pilates can play in rehabilitation and lifelong movement. Her teaching model focuses on combining clinical knowledge with high-quality movement education to give clients the confidence and strength to keep doing what they love for years to come.
This video was taken during one of our regular full-day Clinical Pilates training programs, where our physios continue to develop their skills and deepen their understanding of movement-based rehab.
We are proud to invest heavily in education so we can continue providing the very best care for our clients. 💙💛

Happy 40th to Physioxtra legend, Ty! 🎉

Ty first started with the Physioxtra group at our Norwood clinic many moons ago, and over the years has grown into one of our most respected senior clinicians at our Victor Harbor clinic.

Known for his calm nature, incredible knowledge, and genuine care for his patients, Ty has become such an important part of the Physioxtra family — both to our team and the many people he’s helped along the way.

We’re lucky to have watched your journey and even luckier to have you on the team. Wishing you an amazing 40th birthday filled with plenty of laughs, good food, and well-deserved celebrations! 🍻🎂

Happy Birthday Ty! 👏

Did you know that increasing your Clinical Pilates from one class to two classes per week can significantly accelerate your results? ✨

Consistency is key when it comes to building strength, improving flexibility, enhancing balance, and supporting long-term movement health. By attending an extra session each week, your body has more opportunity to reinforce movement patterns, improve muscle control, and continue progressing without losing momentum between classes.

Whether your goal is rehabilitation, injury prevention, improved posture, or simply feeling stronger and more confident in your body, two sessions per week can help you get there faster 💪

Speak to your PhysioXtra physio about whether adding an extra Clinical Pilates session could benefit you!

Heel raises: small movement, BIG impact 👣

Struggling with Plantar Fasciitis? Heel raises are one of the simplest (and most effective) exercises to help reduce pain and get you moving comfortably again.

Why they work:✔️ Strengthen your calf muscles – better support for your foot✔️ Improve load tolerance through the plantar fascia✔️ Help reduce strain with walking, running, and standing✔️ Promote better foot mechanics over time

Start with both feet, then progress to single-leg as you get stronger. Slow, controlled reps are key!

At PhysioXtra, our team is highly trained to guide you through the right exercises at the right time – so you can recover faster and stay pain-free.

From the footy field to the treatment room 🏉

Brodie knows better than most what it feels like to be sidelined by injury — and now he’s helping young athletes get back to doing what they love.

His journey from SANFL premiership player to physiotherapist is a true full-circle story, and we’re so proud to see it featured in today’s article.

A great reminder that sometimes life takes us in a new direction for a reason.

Dry Needling at PhysioXtra 💪

Did you know many of our physiotherapists at PhysioXtra use dry needling as part of their treatment to help relieve muscle pain and improve movement?

Dry needling targets tight or overactive muscles (trigger points) to help reduce pain, release muscle tension and support faster recovery. It can be particularly helpful for conditions such as neck and back pain, sports injuries and persistent muscle tightness.

At PhysioXtra, your safety and care are our priority. All of our physiotherapists undertake additional training and certification before they are qualified to perform dry needling, ensuring the technique is delivered safely and effectively as part of an evidence-based treatment plan.

If you’re dealing with muscle pain or tightness, dry needling may be able to help.
