I have been very conflicted all day as to how I address my following post. It will be confrontational and may hit a sore point with some people, I need to stay true to my values and ethics and being an advocate for the people who instil their trust in me as a professional in the NDIA world.
What I and another person have been on the receiving end of in the past 24hours is nothing but deplorable behaviour, from someone who is meant to be a trusted person for vulnerable people.
It IS NOT OK to abuse, threaten, harass and bully a participant. Or a provider.
For those that know me truly, know I have been on the receiving end of years of bullying and relentless harassment at the hands of the highest executives in one of the largest Riverina organisations. I have with the positive support of those around me, pulled myself out of some very dark places. I will not stand for a participant to EVER be treated like this.
I am an impartial person in this situation and only wanted what is best for this person. They chose to execute choice and control and for that they received constant messages and phone calls. Allegations and threats were levelled at myself via this person, all due to someone taking back control. This person is safe and being supported appropriately through this very distressing event.
My piece of advice that I have learned through my previous experiences is DO NOT engage in phone calls or meet someone face to face without a witness, if you are presented with a situation like this. Keep screenshots, communicate through methods that can be used as evidence if needed - emails - best option, or messages and messenger if this is your only option - take screenshots. Start documenting everything.
Surround yourself with people who will support you and self care is very important to get through such a challenging time.
Thanks for getting to the end, if indeed you did...
