Discover the fascinating history of this charming 1875-built residence, originally constructed for the headmaster of Tumut Public School. Despite its picturesque appearance, it endured a challenging past with headmasters often grumbling about the dampness, lack of bathroom, insufficient water supply, and biting cold. Imagine having to carry water up from the river for daily use! Later, when the school relocated, the Department of Education declined to build a new residence, leaving the headmasters with even more reasons to grumble. Today, this historic gem serves as a government office and is currently undergoing upgrades to meet modern standards.
