They're not rushing out to buy things they don't need. 😉

The businesses that head into the new financial year with confidence are usually focused on understanding their numbers, not chasing last-minute deductions.

Right now, we're seeing business owners:

✔️ Checking where they're likely to end up for the year
✔️ Making sure their bookkeeping is up to date
✔️ Looking ahead to upcoming tax and super obligations

Megan and I enjoyed attending the Small Business Forum hosted by City of Wagga Wagga , Wagga Wagga Business Chamber, and Council of Small Business Organisations Australia.

Understanding the numbers behind the business matters. One of the biggest things we see this time of year is businesses working hard, generating income, but still feeling pressure around cashflow, tax or upcoming obligations.

Before 30 June can be a great time to step back and look at:
• what tax may be coming
• whether cashflow is tracking as expected
• what obligations may be around the corner
• whether the business is financially prepared for the new financial year

• Cash flow timing matters more than profit early on - you can be “profitable on paper” and still feel stretched if money isn’t coming in when you expect it.
• Super and tax don’t wait just because you’re new - obligations start from the beginning, even when things feel small or informal.
• Systems matter from day one - good setup early makes growth easier (and far less stressful) later.
• Asking questions early saves money - most costly issues start with “I wasn’t sure, so I just went ahead.”
