Today on National Sorry Day we stop and remember the pain carried by the Stolen Generations — Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children taken from their families, communities, language and culture.

Sorry Day is not just about the past. It is about listening, healing and making sure the stories are never forgotten. Behind every child taken was a mother who cried, a father who searched, grandparents who waited, and communities left grieving.

For many families, that hurt still lives on today. Yet through all the pain, Aboriginal people continue to show strength, culture, connection and resilience.
