What does successful intergenerational wealth transfer actually look like?
Recently, Gavin Lamb joined the Ensombl podcast to discuss intergenerational wealth, family dynamics and why passing on money is often the easy part.

A few insights that stood out:
• Financial planning is far less about numbers and far more about people.
• The goal isn't simply to transfer wealth. It's to develop the next generation into good custodians of that wealth.
• Fair isn't always equal. Equal isn't always fair.
• The best succession plans provide flexibility, not rigid instructions from beyond the grave.

One of Gavin's most interesting observations was that many families spend years building wealth but very little time preparing the next generation to manage it. Because successful wealth transfer isn't really about assets, structures, or tax strategies - it's about communication, values, and helping future generations understand the responsibility that comes with wealth.

A great conversation and well worth a listen:

We work with clients at every stage, including plenty who are close to retirement. But if we're being honest, 10 years is where the magic happens. It's the runway that lets us genuinely change your outcome, not just manage it.

Ten years is enough time to maximise super contributions, restructure assets, refine your tax position, build the right investment mix, and genuinely design the retirement you want; rather than the one you end up with by default.

When we sit down with a new client and work through their One Page Plan, three patterns tend to emerge:
→ Some discover they could retire sooner than they ever expected.
→ Others find a gradual transition (part-time work alongside super drawdowns) is the smarter path.
→ And occasionally, the picture is more confronting. They'll need to work longer than they'd hoped.

But if we're a decade out, we have time to change that outcome.

If you're in your early-to-mid 50s and thinking "I should probably sort this out soon" that instinct is spot on.

Now is exactly the right time; https://f.mtr.cool/ryfjcsavfl

From 1 July 2026, employers will be required to pay superannuation on the same day as wages; not quarterly. That's a significant shift in how you manage cash flow, payroll, and compliance.
If you're not across what this means for your business, now is the time to get prepared.

Here's what to check:
* Can your payroll system process super with every pay run?
* Do you have the cash flow to support more frequent super payments?
* Are your processes set up so nothing slips through the cracks?

We're here to help you ‘navigate’ it before it becomes a problem. If you need help, book a call with the accounting team; https://f.mtr.cool/ezumphrwru

Yesterday we had the privilege of hosting international man of mystery, Ryan Murphy from Morningstar.

Ryan is at the forefront of helping advisers better understand the intersection of psychology, behavioural science, and decision making. Through research, mathematical modelling, and practical insights, his work helps advisers support clients in making clearer, more confident decisions that lead to more fulfilling lives.

For our team, conversations like these matter. Because great advice is never just about numbers. It’s about understanding people, helping them stay focused on what matters most, and guiding them towards the life they truly want to live.

We’re grateful for the time, wisdom and generosity Ryan shared with the Navigate Advisors team yesterday as we continue our mission that everybody deserves a fulfilling life.

The headlines are loud right now. CGT changes. Negative gearing reforms. Discretionary trust taxation.

And understandably, many business owners, investors and families are asking the same question:
“What does this actually mean for me?”

The reality is these proposed changes could represent some of the biggest shifts to wealth and investment policy we’ve seen in decades. But reacting emotionally to headlines rarely leads to good financial decisions.

We believe the best approach is to step back, understand the detail and focus on long-term strategy over short-term panic.

In our latest article, we break down:
• The proposed CGT changes from 1 July 2027
• What’s happening with negative gearing
• Proposed discretionary trust reforms
• What may impact investors, business owners and families

Different generations often want the same outcome.

Security, opportunity, a future for the people they care about

But protecting generational wealth is not built on numbers alone, it's built on;
-recognising the history in the room
-creating space for each voice to be heard
-guiding conversations before jumping to solutions
-and on putting the right structures in place

To protect what has been built, even through life events that can place pressure on families, including relationship breakdowns.

Navigate specialises in structuring wealth the right way, so what you build today is protected for the future. Book a call if you'd like to chat over your unique circumstances; https://f.mtr.cool/maclxidwsb

If your accountant isn’t already talking to you about tax minimisation strategies, it might be time to talk to someone who is proactive. There may still some plays to be made before the 30th of June.
