Well done Williams, we are so proud of you and to be able to service your community:)

Congrats to Williams, which has taken out the national title in the 2026 Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy Towns Awards.

Crowned in Launceston on Saturday night, the small agricultural town claimed a win in four categories, including overall.

Williams Community Resource Centre manager Hazel Harris spoke to Paul Cook on Great Southern Breakfast.

"We got asked to apply for the state award last year, and we said sure that'll be fun, never thinking when we're going to win that," she said.

"And then taking out the national award, for a small community of only 1000 people we're all very very proud."

Ms Harris said the term Tidy Towns is less about the appearance of communities than it used to be.

"It's about building that holistic approach around about our towns and our communities together, not just what it looks like," she said.

The trophy has flown home, and the Shire and CRC will decide who gets to house it.
