Guess who’s swapped Rutherglen vintage for Portugal? 🇵🇹🍇

Ava Cofield is currently in the Dão region of Portugal, getting stuck into her first Portuguese vintage at Quinta do Covão.

Working as a cellar hand, she’s expanding her knowledge and experience — although things look a little different to vintage back here in Rutherglen, with new grape varieties, different winemaking traditions and, of course, a whole new language to learn along the way.

As you can see from the photos, she’s already mastering some of the most important Portuguese terminology… starting with the words for grapes. 😂🍇

And today also happens to be Ava’s birthday! 🎉

Happy Birthday from your extended Cofield family back home. We hope you’re having an amazing experience over there — although we definitely miss your random conversations, dry sense of humour and the way you somehow manage to make everyone laugh without even trying.

Have a brilliant birthday, Ava. We can’t wait to hear all the vintage stories when you’re back.

WE CAME THIRD!! 🥉🍷

We are absolutely thrilled to have been named #3 in Australia in the Halliday Wine Companion People’s Choice Award!

And to make it even more special, Cofield was the only Victorian winery to make the Top 10. 💕

That also makes four years in a row that we’ve finished in the Top 10, including taking out the trophy in 2024.
