The Australian Government will conduct a nationwide test of AusAlert, Australia's new emergency warning system, on Monday, 27 July 2026. The system is designed to send emergency messages directly to compatible mobile phones, tablets and smartwatches using cell-broadcast technology. The national test is intended to verify system capability and familiarise the community with how emergency alerts will appear on their devices.

Why This Matters

AusAlert will become an additional emergency communication channel used to warn Australians during significant events such as:

Bushfires
Floods
Severe storms
Public safety incidents
Public health emergencies
The test will help emergency services understand how different devices and mobile networks respond in real-world conditions before the national rollout scheduled for later in 2026 🧡
