It’s issued after all required inspections have been completed and the work matches the approved plans.

Without it, a new home cannot legally be occupied.

Industry Update

The commencement of NCC 2025 in NSW has been pushed back and will now take effect from 1 May 2027.

This additional 12 months will give the construction industry more time to understand and prepare for the changes introduced in the new Code.

While the delay provides more time for preparation, many builders and designers are already working towards these future standards.

What is a Development Application (DA)?

A DA is a planning approval assessed by council. It’s typically required when a project doesn’t meet the strict criteria for a fast-tracked CDC.

This might be due to variations in height, setbacks, site constraints, or other local planning controls.

Unlike a CDC, a DA is reviewed by council planners and may involve neighbour notification.

It’s important to remember a DA is planning approval only. You’ll still need a Construction Certificate before building starts.
