When it comes to ergonomic gear, recommendations are easy to find. Real, clinical-grade testing is a bit harder to come by.

Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how the wrong setup can quietly slow down recovery or contribute to unnecessary strain. That is why every single piece of equipment I stock, from keyboards and vertical mice to laptop stands and footrests, is something I have personally tested and endorsed for its quality, durability, and true ergonomic functionality.

Today, I’ve just uploaded a fresh range of new items to the web shop (and I still have others that I need to get to)! If you haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, I’ve left the direct link in the comments below 👇

🏥 Local Allied Health Professionals (Physios, Chiros, Osteos)
If you’re running a local clinic, I’d love to help support your patient care. I am more than happy to come by your rooms with a selection of our latest ergonomic innovations to demonstrate how these tools can fit seamlessly into your treatment plans and assist your clients in managing their conditions.

💼 Rehabilitation Consultants
Finding the right equipment for a client can be a fine line between a smooth return-to-work transition and a costly trial-and-error process. I can help arrange local trials or test equipment for your clients prior to purchase, allowing us to confirm true suitability and fit before any final decisions are made.

Whether you're setting up a single workstation or supporting a client’s recovery, feel free to reach out directly via DM or drop a comment below.

Ergonomics isn’t just about comfort — it’s about health, performance, and long-term outcomes.

With the current fuel pressures and push for people to work from home where possible, this conversation is more relevant than ever: modern work demands smarter ergonomic thinking.

As people shift between home, office, and hybrid setups, the risks of poor posture and prolonged sitting continue to rise — along with the incidence of musculoskeletal issues.

Importantly, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to ergonomics — what works for one person may not work for another.

That said, one simple and practical framework is:
• 20 minutes sitting (with good posture)
• 8 minutes standing
• 2 minutes moving
Repeat every 30 minutes.

The key message is simple: Movement matters.

From a business perspective, ergonomics isn’t an expense — it’s an investment. Better setups lead to:

✔ Improved productivity
✔ Reduced absenteeism
✔ Lower injury risk

Sit-to-stand workstations are a straightforward way to encourage movement and give people flexibility in how they work throughout the day.

If you’re not thinking about ergonomics yet, you’re already behind.

I can’t tell you how many times someone’s chair has gone from uncomfortable to perfect just by adjusting the backrest height and getting the lumbar support in the right place.

It sounds simple — and it is — but there are different ways to achieve it.

I’ve put together a quick blog post breaking it down for anyone who wants to make their chair work for them.

Not all ergonomic office chairs are equal. Learn how backrest height adjustments affect comfort & which type, ratchet or manual, may suit you.

🛑 Stop Wasting Money: The Ergonomics Investment Equation 🛑 Why the "Wait and Treat" approach is costing your business more than you think.

You have two options when trying to address musculoskeletal discomfort for your office employees:

📉 Option A: The Reactive Expense
Problem identified: Employee reports pain/discomfort.
Solution: Refer for an average of 4–6 physiotherapy/chiropractic/osteopathy treatments.

The resulting impacts:
• $400 – $700+ in direct treatment fees.
• 3–5 WEEKS of reduced working capacity (aka Presenteeism).
• $$$ Increased Workers’ Comp Premiums and paperwork (i.e. your time).
• Lost Wages and employee time off for external appointments.
• Other staff have to take additional load (i.e. reduced overall productivity).

Total Outcome: A temporary fix for a persistent environmental issue.

📈 Option B: The Proactive Investment
Problem identified: Employees at risk due to prolonged seated tasks and computer operation.
Solution: On-site ergonomic assessment by a physiotherapist.

The resulting benefits:
• Upfront Cost of assessment (~$100pp) for improved understanding of safe work postures and self-management strategies.
• IMMEDIATE supply/trial of only necessary and proven equipment from our mobile van.
• LONG-TERM reduction in musculoskeletal claims.
• ZERO appointments required for treatment (i.e no additional treatment fees).
• ZERO time required to source equipment or manage claim paperwork (i.e. your time).

Total Outcome: Root cause of potential issues corrected, productivity secured, risk eliminated.

🚐 Ergo Expert's Unique Competitive Edge: We eliminate the gap between identifying a problem and implementing the solution. We combine high-level physiotherapy expertise with the immediate supply power of our Mobile Equipment Van.

This means same-day assessments, equipment fitting, trials, and supply, converting a potential injury into a stable, productive employee/workstation in hours, not weeks.

Don't delay prevention. Contact Ergo Experts for an immediate, physio-approved ergonomic solution.

Q: What do you get when you buy an $89 office chair from Aldi?

A: Less than two years of poor non-adjustable “postural support”, rapidly flattening foam, and a sore back and backside that makes even the best job hard to enjoy.

I see it all the time — people trying to save a few dollars on home office setups, only to spend much more later on physio appointments, replacement chairs, or just hours of discomfort.

Ergonomic furniture isn’t about luxury — it’s about longevity, support and comfort. A good chair should adapt to you, not the other way around.

If you’re spending 6–8 hours a day at your desk, your chair (and desk) are some of the most important investments you can make for your health and productivity.

Sometimes “cheap and cheerful” turns out to be “cheap and painful” — and the only real way out of it is to spend more money on something better the next time round.

How much money do you think you need to spend on an ergonomic office chair to get something decent?

Designing the Post-Keyboard Workplace: The 2028 Prediction and the Future of Ergonomics

New research from the London School of Economics (LSE) is ringing the bell for a massive shift: They predict that by 2028, Generation Alpha may significantly abandon the keyboard, preferring voice notes and audio input for key communication and tasks.

This isn't just a communication trend—it's an ergonomic game-changer.

While a complete phasing out is dramatic, my opinion is that we are more likely to see a powerful combination of input devices continuing into the future (voice, touch, and keyboard) rather than a full elimination. However, even a significant shift means:

1. New Postural Freedom: Ergonomic considerations must evolve from primarily addressing repetitive strain injuries from typing to supporting a wider range of dynamic postures suitable for voice command.

2. The AI Impact: The adoption of more AI technology will further drive this change, as tasks become less about transcription and more about conversational command.

3. App Development: The development of custom apps to tackle repetitive and mundane work tasks will free up employee time, requiring us to design workspaces that support higher-level cognitive work, collaboration, and focused audio interaction.

The future of ergonomics is less about the stationary desk setup and more about a flexible, acoustically smart, and AI-enabled environment.

What are you doing today to design and prepare for the workforce of 2028?

Choosing the right ergonomic chair doesn’t have to be confusing

In this short video, I share 3 simple tips for selecting and adjusting an ergonomic office chair that truly supports you - plus if you stick around there is a bonus tip at the end that no one ever tells you about… and it’s the key to making sure your chair actually fits you correctly from day one.

If you’re thinking about upgrading your chair, this is worth a quick watch before you buy.

Providing a better home office setup

I recently completed an ergonomic assessment for a client who works remotely for a government organisation. He’d requested a second monitor for his home office setup - a reasonable request, but as often happens, this triggered a full ergonomic assessment before approval.

When I arrived, I found that while he was already using a 27-inch monitor, his inbuilt desk was slightly too low for his tall frame, and he mentioned wanting the option to work in standing at times. I recommended a sit-stand desktop converter combined with a dual monitor arm, allowing for proper screen positioning and flexibility between sitting and standing.

He took my recommendations to his employer - and when I returned to supply and install the items for him, I was pleasantly surprised to find they’d gone above and beyond, providing two upgraded 32-inch monitors. Luckily, the Valor HD dual monitor arm I’d selected was strong enough to support both, and the MaxiShift desktop converter offered the ideal height range and stability for his setup. Thanks Elevar.

The end result?
A comfortable, highly adjustable workspace that perfectly suits his height, equipment, and working style - and one very happy (and now well-supported) remote worker.

The photo shows the final setup - a great example of how thoughtful ergonomics can transform a workspace.

The power of getting ergonomics right at home!

I recently had the privilege of working with a client referred by a Hand Therapist. She’d been struggling with persistent shoulder and thumb pain and had tried other ergonomic assessments in the past with, in her words, “no usable suggestions.”

A few highlights from her review:

“So happy I found Josh’s services… I cannot recommend him enough if you have any pains whilst working, or just can’t get comfortable working.”

“Josh took the time to understand my WFH workspace… those small tweaks helped so much, I realised how much better I could be working.”

“I used to dread being at my desk… by Wednesday I’d be crippled by pain — NO LONGER. I’m comfortable all week.”

And the outcome:

“My shoulder has improved, and I’m already spending less time at my physio and OT (and less $$).”

This is exactly why I do what I do at Ergo Experts - thoughtful assessment, personalised recommendations, and physiotherapy-informed reasoning to get to the root causes, not just treat symptoms.

Often, it’s not one big event causing pain, it’s what we do repeatedly. When setup, posture, and habits are aligned, comfort and productivity follow.

If you or someone you know is struggling to work comfortably from home or in the office, the right ergonomic support can change everything. Reach out if you’d like help creating a setup that actually works for your body and your job demands.
