Tuesday, 28 April 2026 is World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Workplace safety isn’t just about physical risks anymore.

Psychosocial health - things like workload, support, role clarity and workplace behaviour - is now a legal responsibility for employers, not just a “nice to have”.

With the new regulations now in place, businesses are expected to actively identify and manage these risks.

So, is your workplace actually compliant?

Or are there risks sitting in the background that haven’t been addressed yet?

If you’re not sure where to start, this is exactly the kind of work we support businesses with — practical, straightforward and tailored to you.

We’ve recently concluded our second workplace investigation of the year.

Running workplace investigations is one of the most challenging parts of what we do.

They’re detailed, time-consuming, and often far more complex than they first appear. But more than that - I’m acutely aware that they involve real people. Real experiences. Real consequences.

Every interview, every piece of evidence, every finding, carries weight. There’s big pressure in that. Not just to be thorough and technically sound, but to be fair, balanced, and to genuinely give it everything in order to reach that important balance of probabilities threshold.

Behind every allegation is someone who has spoken up, and someone who is responding. Both deserve a process that is careful, respectful, and absolutely grounded in integrity.

It’s not work we can or would ever rush. And it’s not work we take at all lightly.

The trust organisations place in us to handle these matters - often at their most sensitive - it isn’t lost on me. It’s at the forefront of my mind in every investigation we run.

So, while we enjoy the challenge that running investigations provides, the time between them is just as important - to reset and ensure we’re ready to step back into that level of responsibility.

Because this isn’t process-driven work. It’s people-driven. And it deserves to be treated that way, every single time.

If you need support with a workplace investigation - whether externally or just to have an experienced hand guiding the process - we’re always happy to have a conversation.

“I couldn’t build a house.”
“I couldn’t treat someone’s hearing loss.”
“I couldn’t run a packed café on a Saturday morning.”

We've said exactly this to clients recently.

But when it comes to HR?
So many business owners feel like they should just know it.

And if they don’t… there’s almost a quiet guilt about asking for help.

Let's say this clearly:

HR is hard
It's complex
It changes constantly
and it’s rarely black and white

And it carries real risk if you get it wrong.

You’re good at what you do because you’ve trained for it, worked in it, built experience in it.

We’re the same.

We spend hours reading legislation updates, unpacking case law, reviewing regulator guidance and sitting in webinars, and regularly we need to call on our legal mates for advice - because good HR advice requires depth, nuance and staying ahead.

You wouldn’t expect your accountant to rewire your café.
You wouldn’t expect your physio to draft your Section 32.
And you shouldn’t expect yourself to navigate investigations, compliance, restructures or tricky people conversations alone.

Asking for HR support isn’t a failure.

It’s smart.
It’s strategic.
It’s good leadership.

And honestly? It’s far easier (and far cheaper) to get it right from the start than to unwind it later.

We’re here to make it clearer. Calmer. Simpler.

So you can get back to doing what you do best.

✨ Wrapping up a big year at HR Sorted ✨

As the year comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on what’s been a big (and genuinely enjoyable) year for HR Sorted.

This year, we:
✔️ Moved into The Hub HQ, Warragul - a huge milestone for us
✔️ Worked with 72 amazing clients, including 7 proudly “Gippsland” or “Gippy” named businesses (a stat we love)
✔️ Navigated numerous complex investigations and challenging people matters with care, fairness and integrity
✔️ Delivered countless employment contracts, policies and practical HR tools and systems
✔️ Supported business owners and managers through a huge number of hours of trusted HR advice
✔️ Helped recruit some truly fantastic people into our clients’ teams

We’re so lucky to work with business owners and leaders who truely care about their people, value the support and advise we bring .... and don’t take themselves too seriously. There’s been plenty of serious HR work this year - but also lots of laughter (and more than a few swear words), real conversations and plenty of shared wins along the way.

To everyone who’s trusted us with their people and their businesses this year — thank you. We genuinely love the work we do, the clients we support, and the community we’re part of.

Here’s to a well-earned break… and an exciting year ahead in 2026 💛

At work, laughter isn’t just a nice to have… it’s honestly one of the most important parts of our day. For Rachel and I at HR Sorted, it’s how we stay grounded, connected and sane in the world of HR 😅

From a psychosocial health perspective, laughter is actually a protective factor - it eases tension, builds connection and helps buffer the pressures of busy workloads, heavy people issues and constant context-switching.

And trust me… Rach and I laugh a lot at work.
Sometimes it’s something I’ve completely misheard, sometimes it’s an unbelievable HR scenario or one of Rach’s terrible jokes, and sometimes it’s just because it’s Friday afternoon and everything is funny 🤣

But that laughter keeps us:
• Connected as a team
• Grounded when things feel heavy
• Energised to keep showing up for our clients
• Taking care of our own psychosocial wellbeing

It doesn’t mean we don’t take our work seriously - we absolutely do.
It means we take people seriously… including ourselves (but not too seriously 😉).

Psychosocial health isn’t just about managing risks.
It’s also about creating moments of lightness, warmth and genuine human connection - and laughter is one of the simplest ways to do that.

If your workplace feels a little flat lately, ask yourself:
When was the last time you heard real, joyful laughter in your team?
