STORM WALKING

Lately, when people ask how I am doing, I find myself replying, “I’m rolling with the punches.”

It’s my way of saying- I’m okay. I’m taking it one day at a time.

But this morning I thought of a more accurate phrase-

“I’m rolling with the thunder.”

Because thunder- as loud and unsettling as it may be- doesn’t hurt you.
It’s not lightening.
It’s just the sound of a storm nearby.

And there’s no point in wasting today’s peace and breath panicking about lightening that hasn’t yet struck.

We all walk through thunderous valleys in different seasons of life.

Thing is, at these times, the fear and worry about the “what ifs” don’t protect us.
They only steal the energy we need for the “what is.”

Worrying doesn’t stop the storm from coming. It only robs us of the strength we need to face it.

Every single day, no matter how wild the winds or how heavy the downpour, somehow we are given just enough strength and wisdom for THAT day.
Not for next week.
Not for next month.
Just for today…

So yes-
I’m rolling with thunder.
Stepping forward into the unknown,
with peace in my heart.
And if or when the lightening does strike-
I’ll meet it there.
I’ll keep rolling.

And until then, I’m focusing on what I CAN control:

☔️ Healing my physical body.
☔️ Strengthening from the inside out.
☔️ Processing the emotional rollercoaster without judgement.
☔️ Remembering that the sun STILL shines, even during the storm.
☔️ Doing more of what I love.
☔️And embracing joy, every hard lesson learnt, and every drop of rain as part of the journey…

If you, too, are storm walking, hold onto this reminder:

You don’t have to chase the sun.
You just have to keep stepping through the tempest.

Because every downpour ends.
And when it does,
Sometimes only when it does,
We become aware of how much has grown in the rain…
Of how much WE have grown in the rain…

Keep walking, my friends.

You’re braver than whatever storm you are in.

And YOU-
You are stronger than thunder.

With love and storm walking,
Naomi ⛈️ ❤️

Post from Veda Austin I have often used words as my inspiring influence prior to freezing. I’ll write a word on a piece of paper, place my petri dish of water on top of it for 30 seconds, remove and freeze using my short term method. I like using conceptual and emotional words, which I don’t have specific visuals for..such as ego and grief. I recently shared ego, and here is grief.

Water didn’t design a broken heart or tears, it designed the outline of a person with holes inside.

A while after seeing this, I used the word ‘acceptance’ and got a very similar shaped of person with no holes inside, just a couple of small ice drops that had already started melting by the time I took the photo.

I find it fascinating that water showed a very relative image to extend the conversation of grief to acceptance.

I have always thought that a higher intake of any fats, including omega-3 fatty acids, was bad for acne. There is certainly strong evidence for the role of saturated fats in the pathophysiology of this common skin condition.

However, recent research shows that adopting the Mediterranean diet and supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids significantly lowers acne severity and enhances quality of life. The 16-week study, which included 60 patients with mild to moderate acne, was published on July 10 in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.
At the beginning of the study, a striking 98.3% of participants were found to have deficiencies in omega-3 fatty acids. Those who achieved the targeted levels of omega-3s during the study experienced a significant reduction in acne severity. Self-reported appearance worsened in four patients.

“Lifestyle interventions, including dietary recommendations, should not be considered in opposition to prescription medications, but rather as a valuable adjunct to any modern acne treatment plan,” said corresponding author Anne Guertler, MD, of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, in Germany. “Future studies should build on the foundation laid by our current findings in a randomised, placebo-controlled design to improve dietary recommendations for acne patients.”

The omega-3 supplementation was an oral algae-derived product and comprised daily doses of 600 mg DHA/300 mg EPA for weeks 1-8, and then 800 mg DHA/400 mg EPA for weeks 8-16.

Laura Failner is a SkyWest flight attendant. She witnessed this moment of kindness. The world would be a much better place if everyone is like her.
"I love looking for the good in the world! As I flew up to Washington today, I had this cute little 94-year-old lady get on my plane. She was frail and had a hard time getting back to her seat. There was a bit of confusion about where she was supposed to be seated. In first-class, this wonderful gentleman saw her plight and flagged me down. He said, "can you please get her and put her in my seat, and I will take hers." He walked back with me to get her and take her to first class. She was so touched. The woman gave him a big hug and said, "Never in my 94 years has someone done that for me. Thank you, young man." She had tears of gratitude. It was amazing how his thoughtful act changed the attitude of everyone on the flight. May we all look for the little things we can do to help others around us and show kindness. In this crazy world, let's all try to be the good." 🥰🥰🥰
