GoingPro is something I love to challenge myself with because it is so easy to spend our whole week reacting to whatever comes our way in life, business, family, and all the bits that just happen.
Messages, appointments, tech issues, customer questions, or getting that gift sorted.
And then we tell ourselves:
“I’ve just got to get through this week, and then I’ll do xyz.”
And yes, some weeks you really are fully booked, just trying to keep everything happening, and keep everyone fed and happy along the way.
But if that one week turns into another, and a month goes past without you getting to that thing you wanted to do, I would love to ask you a question:
If this week’s urgent thing magically disappeared, would you know the actions you’d take towards that XYZ goal, and what you’d do with that extra gifted time?
Not the WHOLE project. What’s the next bite you would take towards that thing you’ve been putting off?
Staying busy can feel useful. There is always something to tidy, fix, answer, organise, chase up, remember, redo, or rescue.
I have no judgement at all if you’re in that loop. I know that loop very well myself.
Whenever I catch myself thinking, “Just this next thing before I xyz,” then I know it’s time to look at my tiny actions.
I wonder what would happen if, even in the middle of a messy week, you added one tiny PROactive step towards the thing you keep saying matters.
Three minutes count as a tiny sprint.
Maybe it’s adding that question to your FAQs (frequently asked questions), since customers keep asking it.
Maybe it’s starting the checklist that would stop future-you from having to remember all the moving pieces every time you write your newsletter or onboard a client.
Maybe it’s making a rough first list of 3 things you do in one process, so next time you can add more and build it as you go.
Your first tiny action could even be a list of the first 3 action steps that would create movement towards your goal - so you’re clear on when you find another tiny pocket of time to actually work on it.
Let’s work out those first few bites and take it out of your head and into action.
Whether you start with 30 seconds or 30 minutes, it’s about being PROactive towards the bigger things that matter to you, instead of waiting for the world to stop and give you a clear week.
In the same way, tiny grains of sand can make an awesome sandcastle; each tiny step can become part of sorting out life and business, the way you want it to be.
