Well, it’s been a bloody long time since we’ve seen this!!!
Much needed wet stuff finally hit us today! With 7ml in the gauge at 4pm and it’s still going steadily as I type!
I can hear the water running into the tank!
The horses are mud muppets and loving life!
As you can see, we are dirt and dust with no feed in sight.
As a rule, this time each year, we have grass starting to grow and clover starting to sprout, but we are struggling!
Hay is at an all time high and hard to get hold of, and horse feed has sky rocketed in price!
This rain is just what the doctor ordered!!

From scardy cat to in my pocket!

Elroy has been letting down after his race prep (and failing miserably 😜) and training.
When he arrived he was very nervous, jumpy and didn’t like his head touched at all. So for the past few weeks I’ve just been going into his paddock with a brush, asking nothing of him and just spending time in his space. It used to take up to a good 15 mins to get to touch him, but tonight was the first night that he walked straight up to me. Again I didn’t ask anything at first, just brushed him and he offered me his face for the first time! Then after that, I asked him to walk with me, without a lead etc, and he did so keenly while nudging me for more brushes. He stopped with me, backed up with me, turned and followed, all without a lead or any gear at all.
This is a massive breakthrough and we are well in the way to developing a special bond!
He’s still only a baby (4 rising 5) so I’m more than happy to take things slow.
Next week I will start approaching with a headstall and lead! Stay tuned!

I was having a look through some old photos of Dottie today.
Check out the difference a bit of love can make!
Bottom photo is the day after she arrived here at the homestead, with severe wounds, dehydrated and obviously starved!
We are thinking she must of only just been pregnant when we got her, so we are guessing she will be due in June/ July.

Hmmm I’m thinking Dottie will be popping out her foal before mumma!

Today I tried something I’ve never done before, and made homemade pasta!
I made it around lunch time and let it rest until dinner.
Ok, it was a little chewy, so I think next time I’ll need an extra egg in it as the dough must of been a bit too dry. BUT! It tasted like pasta and was super yummy with my sauce made from all our own produce (minus the meat and the wine!), so I’m definitely giving it a go again!!!
