Sew What Sewing Machine Repairs will be taking our annual break from Wednesday 17th December to 14th January 2025

We are often asked why we are closed over the first few weeks of January and that is because a majority of our parts suppliers are closed during this time. So it forces us to have a break!

Sewing machine oil does not have an infinite life span.

Always check your sewing machine oil before putting it in your machine. It should be clear. If it is yellow, save your self the headache, and put it in the bin.

When it ages, sewing machine oil turns to glue and picks up all the dust and lint that is in your machine and clogs up all the machines mechanisms.

In order to keep your machine working properly you need to oil it regularly and if that oil is to old it will not do the job it is intended for.

Like regularly servicing your machine, using the best possible products in your machine will mean it works the way you need it to, when you need it to.

When transporting your sewing machine, whether you are moving house or simply going to craft classes, the best place to put your machine is in the foot rest area behind the front seat. This way it will get to your destination without issue.

Sitting it on the back seat or using a seat belt is not the safest place for your machine. A sewing machine does not respond well to being thrown around a vehicle. Always place it in the foot rest area behind the front seat.

Tips Tuesday!

Remember to not neglect your overlocker.

Even though you may not use it as much as your sewing machine, it still needs to be serviced every 12 months.

Lint collects inside of the machine causing a build up in the bearing and this can cause the overlocker to seize or to make the motor work harder trying to run the machine. Regular servicing ensures the longevity of the machine and protects your investment.
