We’re doing a special red-top bin collection service tomorrow for anyone who missed out earlier this week.

If your bins weren’t collected on Thursday and Friday due to Tropical Cyclone Alfred, please put your red-top bin out tonight, so it can be collected on Sunday 9 March.

This special service requires a massive 175,000 bins to be collected in a single day so our contractor has warned it may not be possible to get to everyone.

If you miss this special service, your bin will be collected on your regular collection day next week.

If you want to start cleaning up after Tropical Cyclone Alfred, our four Resource Recovery Centres will reopen tomorrow.

Green waste drop-off remains free until further notice.

Grants are available to assist directly impacted small businesses with the costs of clean-up and the reinstatement of their business.

The rain may have eased, but another flood peak is coming this evening at 8pm together with the high tide.

While it’s not expected to be as high as this morning’s peak, it is still predicted to reach MAJOR flood levels (Bureau of Meteorology estimate is 3.5m).

This means properties along the Brisbane River and in low-lying areas are still at risk of further flooding.

Our depots are working around the clock to fill sandbags which are available for you to stock up ahead of this afternoon.

Residents and businesses that have already been affected by river flooding should not start cleaning-up yet, because more water is coming.
