Logix Group Protecting your assets... Specialists in marine cathodic protection surveys and design Www.logixgroup.com.au

Logix are committed to providing preventative actions and solutions to all your electrolysis problems. Electrolysis and corrosion can affect all types of vessels ranging from small to large, brand new to “well loved” fibreglass, wood, carbon fibre, aluminium, steel and concrete vessels. Problems can arise from many sources - we aim to find the source and rectify it. A well designed cathodic protec

tion system will significantly reduce maintenance and running costs of your vessel. Performance will be maintained with the correct system due to minimal marine growth. Logix provides a range of products relating to corrosion and electrolysis protection for marinas, OEMs and all types of vessels. Marinas can spend on average between 10 - 15% of gross revenues combating corrosion including replacement of pylons, concrete jetties and walkways, replacement of wiring and electrical fittings, maintenance and repairs. There are very simple solutions that can be implemented to reduce the CAPEX and legal obligations.

Hidden. Localised. Costly.

Crevice corrosion often starts where oxygen access is restricted—and by the time it’s visible, damage may already be occurring. Common in stainless steel - don't ignore the signs of rust weeping from stainless fittings.

Excessive Marine Growth?

This can actually be a sign of some different types of stray current.

If you're seeing signs of excessive marine growth of metal parts, it can be a sign that further specialised diagnostics is required.

Cavitation occurs when v***r bubbles form and collapse against a metal surface under high-velocity flow. The result: localized pitting, surface deterioration, and progressive damage, often seen on propellers and pump components.

Understanding the type of corrosion is the first step toward preventing costly failures.
At LOGIX Consulting, we investigate the cause, not just the symptom.

Wooden vessels display overprotection & stray currents in their own special way. Not only can you experience coating failure and metallic loss, it can even effect the surrounding timber.

Signs of degradation to the timber, like around this stern gland is a sign that there is either overprotection from the use of incorrect (high potential) anodes, or an electrical influence that is causing this chemical reaction to occur.

👉 Don't ignore the signs. Protect the timber first.

Get in touch to see how we can help design the right protection system and correctly diagnose any electrical influences.

Not all corrosion is the same ⚓️
Galvanic corrosion is a common but often misunderstood issue in marine environments—especially on bronze components exposed to fast-moving water.

👉 Understanding how and why it happens is key to preventing costly damage and improving long-term vessel performance.

Know the risks. Manage them early.

Changes in anode consumption, either increased or decreased activity, can be indicative of a change to your cathodic protection caused by a number of potential influences:
✔ Electrical stray current
✔ Shore power influences
✔ Bonding failures
✔ Environmental changes - like water-flow, temperature, salinity

It's important to understand your vessel to identify any changes to quickly identify when something isn't right in order to quickly achieve diagnosis, before costly damage occurs.

At LOGIX Consulting, we can help quickly diagnose complex corrosion.
