At last!! EVERYTHING IS NOW UNDER ONE ROOF IN LOCKHART😊👍

We now have all the 1910 enamelling equipment under one roof from Sydney. It’s been a huge job, but thanks to Sunny Cheema my business partner, his due diligence, training and very long hours we finally made it👍The new enamelling furnace also gets delivered this week from Shepparton, so over the next few weeks we will be testing all the enamelling equipment and furnace, and once we’ve ironed out all the wrinkles it’s operation stove enamelling!! We have a lot to catch up on too, given all the hold ups in Sydney since Christmas with ‘Antique Baths’ closing their doors. We’re also at last running out first nickel plating and brass plating test this coming week, and then we’ll be into full production on that front!! So 1910 this month will have everything under one roof! 🔥Foundry, casting, in cast iron and brass, 3D scanning and design, full electroplating facilities, original vitreous stove and vintage sink enamelling, shot blasting and grit blasting and blacksmith made iron work!! So, you can get your vintage stove restored, with any bespoke ironwork you need, like a fire set maybe or a pot rack?, now all under one roof!! We’re now one of a kind in this country now🔥⚒😊👍Also, l’d like to say a big thank you to our 1910 clients for their patience and to the Lockhart local community for all their amazing support👍⚒

JUST AN UPDATE ON WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE 1910 IRONWORKS🔥⚒

The new nickel and brass plating equipment arrives next week in the workshop!! No thanks to Australian customs! The last truck loads of enamelling gear from Antique Baths Sydney arrives in Lockhart on Friday this week! So, we should be up and running with electroplating and vitreous enamelling over the next month, once all the equipment is tested and ready to go!! Then we have a lot of catching up to do!! The casting and restoration side of 1910 is picking up, with new hobs being cast for stoves, the old new doors from Charters Towers QLD have now been fitted to the big Wards, and they look great!! We’re just fitting the new firebox and middle hob and she’s finished!! On the Blacksmith and forging side of the business we’re busy restoring two sets of magnificent Victorian vintage entrance gates⚒🔥😊and boy are they heavy🥵!!! We’re also restoring two vintage Lister Cream Separators back to working condition and extending a Royal cast apron to fit a New Improved Royal No3 with boiler!! Never a dull moment at 1910😊⚒🔥👍

GOOD NEWS — The first load of enamelling gear ex Antique Baths Sydney, finally headed South to Lockhart today, the rest follows shortly to finally set up our in-house vitreous enamelling facility🔥👍🔥It’s been a major logistical move with some difficult gear to move, and so many holdups, however we’re nearly there, and if Customs in Sydney would now just pull their collective fingers out and clear the rest of our electroplating gear, we could set that up at Lockhart and get that pumping too🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ahh, bureaucracy!!🔥!! Anyway, they say good things come to those that wait🤔?!

ANOTHER TIME TRAVELLER IS RESTORED BACK TO SHOWROOM CONDITION - BUT MISSING A BOILER!

A rare Metter's New Royal No. 3 from near Broken Hill, nears completion in the workshops at Lockhart. The poor old girl was a bit of a mess, mind you, she looks the part now, that is, after a lot of new casting from original parts! Particularly the for-box, back damper and the sliding fire door backs.
The top rack is interesting too, I've seen the standard Metter's top shelf design before on the No. 2. However, I have never seen this bracket design before, very ornate, and they complement the top rack design perfectly!
The front skirt is interesting too, it's the same design as the No.1 and 2 but just extended! This old-time traveller has a huge oven too, I reckon you could feed a small regiment!
Now the stove itself is fully restored, the next task is to cast and make the new/old boiler from patterns off a No. 2 - the tricky bit is the interlocking top hob plate for the boiler, it has to be spot on. Anyway, we'll be sharing that journey with you as well!

AND ALL THE ELECTROPLATING AND ENAMELLING EQUIPMENT WILL BE SHIPPED TO LOCKHART THIS WEEK😀👊✊👍So we can start the enamelling and nickel plating again in earnest!!! Many thanks to our patient clients, we're almost there!!

Another old time traveller heads home over Easter, after a total rebuild in our Lockhart workshops. It just needs a new stainless steel flue adapter to fit the existing flue throat and overhead rack. I personally like the finish on this Beacon No 8 and the use of nickel plating and stainless steel. I believe, this gives this particular vintage stove a more contemporary feel, without compromising the traditional stlying of the Metter's existing design. With a brand new fire-box and drop down front grate, replacement cups and some new frogs, she's ready to cook up a storm. We also replaced the back sliding damper and a new cast air blade under the refurbished cast oven, the wire handles are original too, but just re nickeled.
ENAMELLING UPDATE TO ALL OUR CLIENTS.
Firstly, a big apology to all our clients who have enamel stoves with us currently. The hold up with moving all the original enamelling equipment to Lockhart has taken far longer than anticipated, due to the original business in Sydney holding on to crucial gear for other use until the 11th April!!? Which is very annoying for all concerned and has held us up another two months, given thay said we could move everything in February!
SO MY SINCEREST APOLOGIES FOR THE HOLD-UP! Unfortunately, we all have to be patient, as we will be up and running soon and delivering the last and best enamelling facility in the country, that enamels vintage stoves, cookware and vintage sinks! Cheers, Steve - Principal.

ARTISAN CRAFTSMANSHIP COMES TOGETHER IN LOCKHART.
Slowly, the Artisan and lost crafts are coming together in Lockhart, in the magnificent Riverina of NSW - something I have worked hard to achieve for nearly 50 years. In-fact I was asked to cast some really old pieces today from truly magnificent timber patterns - possibly over 80 years old! And at last, as from April, this year, we eventually start vitreous enamelling our vintage stoves, sinks and cookware, at our new workshops. All the original equipment was shipped down from the last enamelling place in Sydney. This closed down just before Christmas last year. Once production is up and running in April, we will endeavour to fill all our back orders ASAP and pull deadlines back!! The same as the electroplating, with all our new equipment just weeks away from clearing customs!
We also now offer blacksmith, hand-forged iron work, copper work, brazing, cast welding, riveting, spot welding and 3D pattern making and 3D printing! If there's a rare piece missing when restoring a vintage stove at 1910, we just make a new one.
I hope to also get the Blacksmithing, knifemaking, foundry and other specialist artisan workshops up and running by the end of the year - something I'm really looking forward too...particularly the sharing of lost trades knowledge...

Looking over some of the vintage stoves we have restored for clients over the last 12 months is quite staggering! From re-enamelled stoves, to new nickel work and solid brass fittings we've certainly had some challenges with some of the restorations! However, we start shipping all the enamelling gear down to Lockhart from Sydney in the next couple of weeks, that's if we can find the fuel to do it?! What, with things held up on the wharf, OS, red tape, shipping gear, moving workshops and now a War, I'm pretty sure we could handle anything later this year! We plan to start enamelling stoves in April in Lockhart - so a big thank you to all our clients who have been patiently waiting for their enamelled stoves to be restored - given our enamellers of 30 years closed down the end of last year! Re the electroplating, we kick that off in the new workshops in April too! The production of new cast spare parts for vintage wood stoves, has been slower than expected , that is bringing those hard to find parts to market, however, we're streamling the foundry with new staff and equipment to speed that whole process up! So, if you want your vintage wood stove meticulously restored, you know where to come...0402 481 461 or [email protected] Cheers, Steve 🙂 👍

It's all happening at 1910 in Lockhart - more artisan equipment gets shipped down to the new workshop, such as our commercial spot welder, a fully restored 1926 masterpiece, made in Melbourne, and the metal roller originally from the 1920s, built in Brisbane, now also fully restored with new rollers, belts and motor. This vintage roller was used originally to bend steel wagon tyres, it can also bend 20mm round bar, square bar and angle iron. A very-handy bit of kit!! The nickel plating is also not far away now, with the last of the equipment and large plating baths being flown in from OS. The New enamelling area is underway too, with enamelling still being done in Sydney currently, prior to all the equipment being moved down to the new workshops this month in Lockhart. The foundry side of the business is also getting bedded down too, with new staff now producing hard to get stove parts, such as a full firebox for a Beacon No8, inclusive of the sliding back damper. So, thank you for your patience, as we should be back into full production in April. In-fact 1910 will be the one-stop restoration shop, with everything required under one roof - we'll even be producing our own fire bricks for vintage stoves! Later in the year, more exciting news, we will be setting up my traditional blacksmithing shop, complete with vintage power hammers - recognised as one of the best collections of blacksmithing gear in the country. This new Blacksmith Shop will allow me, as a Master Smith of over 50 years to once again teach this admirable profession, by offering a selection of weekend work-shops!

We don't just restore beautiful vintage wood stoves, we also restore magnificent Colbrookdale, 19th Century garden seats, with broken legs and badly cracked seats. Like this one, that's on its way home after a total rebuild, after the removal of 6 layers of lead paint, lichen and moss!!

SOLD FOR RESTORATION -
I procured this rare and magnificent double Metters, originally a Wards stove - Metter's purchased the business after Mr Wards passed away. Metter's then ended up re badging it the Astra. This double oven vintage stove is complete, and in very good original condition for restoration. These stoves really are getting hard to find in this sort of condition and I have the whole history in this one! The new owner is a chef, and has a farm house in the Snowy Mountains, so l’m sure it will be really cosy with this in the new kitchen, while he also cooks up a storm🔥😊👍

We're just getting the workshop and foundry ready for another busy and productive year while also extending the space for the new enamelling and electroplating section of the 1910 business. Also, many thanks for everyone's patience, re hold ups with foundry production, enamelling and electroplating, as we streamline production. Next up will be the blacksmithing and artisan workshop, complete with teaching facilities, later this year. We've also started shipping these fully restored old vintage stoves for clients to Europe and the USA - this requires a serious knowledge of shipping vintage cast iron and antiquities. This year we will also start importing complete stoves and stove parts from the US and UK that are just getting too expensive to purchase or impossible to find here! Exciting times ahead!
