Thidarat and her friends live in a peaceful village on Thailand’s border. But the memory of war still casts a shadow of fear over many of her neighbours, nearly all of whom have fled violence in Myanmar. Migrants and their children like Thidarat don’t have the same access to healthcare or education as Thai citizens.
Thankfully, Compassion Thailand has partnered with International Justice Mission (IJM) to help those eligible to acquire citizenship. IJM has trained Compassion’s church partner staff, who now regularly help the children in their care gain citizenship, along with their families and community members. “I am so happy I am a Thai person 100 per cent!” Thidarat says.
Now, these children have a new hope. How great is that? Thank you IJM and the amazing Thai Compassion staff who make this happen!
