In every successful workplace I've ever seen, there's always that one person who quietly goes above and beyond.
No fanfare. No chest-beating. No LinkedIn posts about "crushing goals". Just turning up and getting stuff done.
The funny thing about Fraser Gallop Estate is they've somehow managed to collect quite a few of these people.
But this week's Gold Medal unquestionably goes to Clayton, the Groundsman.
He started the weekend on his days off, helping pick and stack orders for the hugely successful Barrel Hall Opener.
Then Mother Nature went bonkers. The storm of the half-century rolled through. Trees down. Power lines down. No power for five days. Everything turned to custard.
Meanwhile Clayton was everywhere.
Carting buckets of water to keep the toilets flushing. Chainsawing fallen trees. Clearing access roads. Building burn piles. Repairing things. The bloke is basically MacGyver with a chainsaw.
He's also Canadian.
And one thing I've learned about Canadians—especially Clayton—is that they're remarkably true to their national animal.
The beaver.
Hard-working. Practical. Industrious. Quietly building and fixing things while the rest of us stand around in awe.
So here's a shout-out to Clayton the Beaver.
We see you mate 👍.
And while most guests will never know your name or see half the work you do behind the scenes, places like Fraser Gallop simply don't function without people like you.
Thanks to Clayton, and all the other Beavers out there, quietly keeping the wheels turning while the rest of us take the credit. 🍁🦫👏
