What toxic traits are you leaving behind in 2025?

Here are three every Change Manager needs to ditch:

1️⃣ Being a Therapist: You’re not there to carry emotional baggage. Guide with clarity, not as a crutch.
2️⃣ Being a Parent: Micromanaging and hand-holding only slows things down. Let your team step up.
3️⃣ Being a Hero: Saving the day might feel good, but it creates dependency. Change isn’t about you—it’s about them.

Let's be honest: you've probably heard that as long as you plan well, thetimingof change doesn't matter. But what about the holidays? I'm here to tell you that timing is EVERYTHING.

Think about it: your team is already juggling:

🎄Family stuff.
🎄Tight deadlines.
🎄 The emotional rollercoaster of the holidays.

Launching a big change at the wrong time is a recipe for disaster:

🚩 Responses from a stressed-out team.
🚩Miscommunication and missed details.
🚩 Overwhelmed people who are already on edge.

This is where Change Design® comes in!

Here's how to make it work:
1. Smart Timing:Avoid major changes right before deadlines or during peak holiday periods.
2. Clear Communication:Focus on the "why"—keep it concise and easy to understand.
3. Team Check-ins:Create space for feedback and provide extra support.

Change Design® is all about empathy—understanding the pressures your team faces, especially during the holidays. It's more than just logistics; it's about building a supportive environment. Want to create a seamless change process this holiday season?

If you’re reading this thinking, “I need a better plan for managing change this season,” then book a clarity call today.

We’ll craft a strategy that works with your team, not against them.

Attention small business owners! Have you ever daydreamed about how much smoother things would run if all that awkward, tense, unspoken stuff just… vanished? 💭 Especially when you're trying to scale and grow your biz with your team?

Without a big fancy HR department to lean on, it can feel like you're flying solo when it comes to getting your team engaged, sharing ideas, or trying something new to help the business level up. It might even feel downright impossible to know where to start!

But picture this: a workplace where everyone feels 100% comfortable speaking their mind, brainstorming, and even owning up to their mistakes. It's not just a far-off fantasy for giant corporations – it's a non-negotiable for small teams like yours.

Here's why:

Trust through the roof 🚀 When your team feels safe, they'll bring their A-game. We're talking game-changing ideas and solutions that'll catapult your business to new heights.

Burnout? What burnout? 😎 A supportive environment means less stress and more happy, engaged employees who are in it for the long haul.

Problem-solving on steroids 💪 When people feel safe to contribute, collaboration and creativity go into hyperdrive.

And here's the best part: you don't need to drain your bank account to make it happen. The solution isn't some flashy, expensive software – it's simple, easy-to-implement changes that you can start making today.

If your team seems a bit checked out or hesitant to speak up, consider this your sign to take action.

Ready to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported? Let's talk! 📞 Book a Clarity Call with me – we'll get the ball rolling.

We've all been there—that moment of doubt before communicating a big change. You overthink, avoid the tough conversations, and maybe even assume everyone's already in the loop.

Let's be real, right? Your team doesn't need polished perfection; they need clear, honest communication. Here's the deal:

I've seen so many leaders make these 5 mistakes when communicating change:

1. Skipping the "Why":If your team doesn't grasp the purpose, they'll resist. Paint the big picture!
2. Info Overload:Too much info at once? It's overwhelming. Keep it concise and focused.
3. Ignoring Feedback:Change is about conversation—make space for questions and reallylistento what your team is saying.
4. Avoiding the Feels:Acknowledge how everyone's feeling! Empathy goes a long way.
5. Actions Don't Match Words:Walk the talk. Your actions matter far more than your words.

Remember—honest, clear communication builds trust. When you lead with clarity and purpose, your team will follow. Let's ditch the second-guessing and build stronger teams, together!

Psychosocial safety. Bit of a buzzword, right? But it’s so much more than that—it’s the backbone of real growth and change in any team.

I once worked with a company where burnout was rampant, people were quitting left and right, and morale? Non-existent. Leadership shrugged it off as “just part of the job.” But here’s the thing—it wasn’t. And that mindset didn’t just hurt their people; it cost them a fortune in lost talent, time, and trust.

When you prioritise psychosocial safety in your change efforts, everything shifts:
✨ People feel supported and stick around
✨ Teams find their rhythm and work together
✨ Your culture starts moving in the right direction

This isn’t about ticking boxes or following trends—it’s about designing an environment where your people can adapt, grow, and keep moving forward, no matter what’s thrown at them.

If your team’s feeling stretched or stressed, it’s time to rethink how you’re supporting them through change. Let’s talk about making psychosocial safety a core part of the way you work.

Yes, I said it…

Here’s your permission to ask more questions instead of rushing to solutions.

When you ask the right questions, you:

❓ Get perspectives you might have missed.
❓ Establish trust and open communication within your team.
❓ Find clarity on the next steps, even when things feel messy.
The best part? You don’t need to know it all. You just need to start asking—and listening.

If this resonates, share it. And if you’re ready to explore more tools for leading change, check out our 33 Questions to Ask in Change resource.

Your reminder for today that change isn’t about doing it all perfectly—it’s about showing up with intention and being open to new possibilities.

Creativity can create powerful solutions, but it starts with giving yourself and your team permission to think differently.

💡 Share this with someone who needs a little nudge to approach change with confidence and creativity.

02/12/2024

Here’s the thing: real change doesn’t come from more rules, endless meetings, or sticking to “what we’ve always done.” It comes from making space for fresh ideas, new ways of thinking, and empowering your team to be part of the process.

If your team is feeling stuck or resistant, ask yourself:

❓ Are we stuck in old routines?
❓ Are we too focused on ‘playing it safe’?
❓ When was the last time we asked for team input—and actually listened?

Creativity can change everything. It helps your team:

💡 Solve problems faster by thinking outside the box.
💡 Feel more involved and valued.
💡 Adapt to change without the stress and burnout.

What do you think? Are these blockers showing up in your team?

I’d love to hear your thoughts—share them in the comments below! 👇

There are new and updated rules around psychosocial safety so if you’ve been sleeping on this important requirement and that it’s optional, now is the time to get smart. Protecting your team's mental health isn't just the right thing to do; it's the law.

If you’re ignoring this? It's costing you. Seriously. I’ve seen it firsthand—high stress, burnout, staff leaving… it all adds up to lost money, reputation damage, and stalled progress.

Psychosocial safety is about creating a workplace where people feel supported, safe to contribute, and able to handle change. The Australian Public Service Commission's resources on this are super helpful — check them out!

So, what's your next step?

• Identify pressure points in your workplace.
• Check your support systems for teams during change.

November brought big news for Aussie businesses—especially if you're focused on people! The new Commonwealth Code of Practice for psychosocial safety is here, and its impact is nationwide.

This isn't just another guideline; it's backed by federal law and sets a high bar for protecting your team’s mental wellbeing. This isn't just about ticking boxes; it's about creating a truly human-centred workplace.

While following it isn't strictly mandatory, it's the simplest way to demonstrate compliance and show you're prioritising your team.

You might wonder why I am sooooo invested in Psychosocial Hazards legislation as a change practitioner and leadership coach? Well it turns out that change (a hazard when poorly managed) is also where so many of your hazards can become so much worse - things like support, conflict, role clarity, access to information, fatigue to name a few!

We change our organisations constantly and it's when psychosocial hazards are absolutely at play so it’s essential every change practitioner and leader get comfy with the legislation, assessments and mitigation strategies - which can feel a bit overwhelming!!

But navigating the Code and implementing effective strategies can feel overwhelming.

That's where I come in.

I specialise in helping you understand the Code's implications and build a truly human-centered approach to change, reducing risk and creating a thriving workplace. My Change Design® is grounded in understanding, assessing and reducing psychosocial risk every step of the way!

Ready to put your team's wellbeing front and center? Let's connect.
