It’s a great day when a drive takes you to the worlds largest sand island – K’gari.

Planning client events in remote locations is one of our favorite things to do. Luckily we have clients whose sense of adventure matches ours!

In Queensland, the National Parks First Nations Naming Project has been assisting in reverting national park names to Indigenous names as a part of the government’s commitment to the truth-telling process. We look forward to visiting K’Gari (formally Fraser Island) with our client later this year.

Introducing Elesha Santos (right), our Event Visionary & Manager (self-proclaimed “resident fatty”) who has a knack for nailing the event food and beverage every time.

I know all too well just how fussy people are nowadays, trust me, I’m the queen of fuss. So, I asked Elesha, “how do you do it?”

She said, "It's often a mix of factors—understanding the client brief, branding and budget always come first. After that, I always try to find something a little off the beaten track, a little special and that doesn't feel like it's been ‘done’.”

Easy as that… now for some stellar recommendations.

Something new: "Public Wine Shop in Fitzroy North—incredible wine selection, it's so fun being able to choose the wine you'll be drinking off the shelf. The space and the food meld so well together—very simple, organic and natural but super tasty. A venue that really puts the produce first!”

An OG: "Tipo 00–this is a mainstay for me. I have been going since I moved to Melbourne 10 years ago and the food never ever disappoints."

“Food and culture are always interconnected. How people grow and prepare their food, the rituals and traditions behind what they eat, where and how they celebrate—all of that’s a really wonderful lens into who they are.”

The Anouconcept team is a diverse bunch, and we connect through food—whether that be team lunches, sharing recipes, or bringing herbs and other produce from the garden to share with the team.

Our team really resonated with this recent interview in with Silversea’s Director of the S.A.L.T culinary programme , so it was extra special seeing it in print. Well done team!

In a recent interview with Anou stated that practising diversity and inclusion in the workplace is essential for a thriving business.
“Culture may seem amorphous and vague, but to us, it means concrete actions in the workplace. These include, for example, having both men and women in leadership or management roles, hiring people from a variety of backgrounds, asking team members to contribute ideas, and respecting those ideas by turning them into action. Even simple activities like shared lunches from different cultural backgrounds and joint birthday celebrations are ways in which we promote unity in diversity.”
