A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Wednesday 26 November, for the following areas:

- Greater Sydney Region
- Illawarra/Shoalhaven
- Greater Hunter
- North Western
- Central Ranges
- Upper Central West Plains
- Lower Central West Plains
- Southern Slopes
- Northern Riverina
- Southern Riverina
- Eastern Riverina

Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast across most of the state, with widespread areas of Extreme fire danger.

Catastrophic fire danger is also forecast for the Lower Central West Plains. These are the most dangerous conditions for a fire. For your survival, avoid being in bush and grass fire risk areas within this region tomorrow.

Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000). For more information on Total Fire Ban rules, visit the RFS website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fdr

This week, fire danger will increase across broad areas of NSW. High fire dangers are forecast for most of the state all week, with several areas expected to reach Extreme fire danger from Tuesday through Thursday. Although some rain has fallen, dry fuels, warm temperatures and forecast hot, windy conditions will still increase the risk of fires.

Now is the time to prepare. Review and discuss your bush fire survival plan with your household so you know what you will do if fire threatens.

Land managers should also ensure any recent burns are fully extinguished and closely monitored over the coming days. If you see an unattended fire, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

As the weather keeps warming up, grasslands across the state continue to dry out and cure. Since 1 November, firefighters have responded to more than 540 grass fires across the state, which have burnt through more than 1,500 hectares.

Don't forget it doesn't take long for the grass to dry out and become fire prone. The image below, taken near Rye Park in the South West Slopes area, shows the difference that just one week of warm, dry weather can make.

Grass fires are dangerous and unpredictable, they can start easily and spread rapidly. So it’s important to prepare your property for the risk of fire. For more information, visit the RFS website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/grass
