🚨 UNLOCKING THE ARCHIVES: EPIC 3-DAY SALVAGE OPERATION! 🚨We’ve had to sit on these photos for a couple of years, but now that the dust has finally settled, we can officially share this absolute battle against the elements!We originally got called out to assist with this 25-ton Komatsu excavator because of a rock stuck in its track. But Mother Nature had other plans by the time we arrived, heavy rainfall caused the levee wall holding back a dam to burst. The excavator was completely submerged and totally inoperable. It instantly turned into a high-stakes salvage mission.Here is how we beat the mud and water over 3 brutal days:The Setup: Huge shoutout to our friends at Slingshot! Together, we dug out the machine and ran massive pumps around the clock to stop the area from flooding.The Mechanical Fix: This allowed us to release the sun gears so the tracks could free-spin.The Heavy Armor: We used a 35-ton Cat excavator to lift the boom, while a D10 Dozer skull-dragged the Komatsu out of the abyss.The Finale: Once it was on solid ground, our friends at AM Cranes stepped in to lift and load the machine so it could be delivered straight to the repair shop.Massive teamwork, heavy iron, and zero giving up. Looking back, this is still one of the wildest recoveries we've ever done. Huge thanks again to everyone involved! 🚜💪

🚨 ELECTRIC VEHICLE VS. THE SALT FLATS: A good deed gone wrong at Gunpoint Beach! ⚡🔌
This legend went out with the best intentions to rescue another HiLux bogged down on the Gunpoint salt flats. Unfortunately, the flats claimed a second victim—and this one had a costly twist.
Because this was an electric vehicle, getting stuck in the soft mud caused the computer system to lock up. Stuck hard in gear and unable to move, the incoming tide completely submerged the rig before it could be freed. By the time we got the call at NT Towing & 4x4 Recovery Specialists, the rising water had done its worst, sadly turning this modern EV into a total write-off salvage job.
It breaks our heart to see a recovery end like this, especially when someone was just trying to help out a mate.
⚠️ The Salt Flat & EV Survival Guide:
• EV Electronics & Water Don't Mix: If an EV gets stuck in a high-risk tidal zone or salt flat, software locks or transmission errors can happen fast. If the vehicle gets stuck in gear, conventional recovery becomes a major challenge.
• The Gunpoint Salt Flats Are Deceptive: What looks like a hard crust can instantly turn into bottomless soup underneath, especially when a heavy vehicle sits stationary.
• Call for Backup Early: If a rescue starts going sideways on a tidal flat, do not wait. The Top End tides rise fast and aggressively.

We’ve had a busy few days at Gunpoint Beach! NT Towing and Recovery recently teamed up with the Northern Land Corporation to safely remove two abandoned caravans that were littering our beautiful shoreline.
Our mission wasn't just about the heavy lifting; it was about cleaning up our beaches and protecting the local environment. Abandoned structures like these can become hazards for marine life and disrupt the natural beauty of the NT coast. By working together with the Northern Land Corporation, we’re ensuring that Gunpoint remains a pristine destination for everyone to enjoy responsibly.
