Here is an interesting Microsoft Copilot discovery I made this morning. I been using Copilot ever since the Digital Workplace Conference I attended in 2024. I'm not a massive user I'll confess, but I do find myself using it fairly consistently though there's always a lot to learn, especially given the rapid pace of change happening with AI/Copilot.
So here's my discovery. Earlier this week, I was asked by someone at the Albury/Wodonga Table tennis club to post something on our page this Friday about an upcoming club raffle. (I look after social media for the club). Anyway, I took a photo of the flyer that he showed me using the OneDrive App on my phone because it does a pretty job of scanning and cropping the image before saving it to OneDrive.
Then this morning I opened up the file as a PDF in Microsoft Edge (My default these days) and was about to start typing out the text, when suddenly I thought no, let's drag the photo into OneNote and use one of my favourite OneNote tools "Copy Text from picture". Just saves me some typing.
But then I glanced across from the image which I had opened and notice that copilot chat was sitting there in Edge as it does, and the thought occurred to me I wonder if I could copy the text from this picture using Copilot. And sure enough, I was able to do just that (See the attached pictures). I don't know what made me think of it to be honest…maybe I heard Copilot could do that somewhere but anyway it worked.
And of course, I was asked a follow up question by Copilot; "Would I like this formatted for a Flyer or an Announcement". To which I replied yes, please; can you format this for an announcement on my page. And bingo the job was done in 5 minutes. Amazing!
Maybe you know this already, but if you didn't, give it a try…or something like it!
PS - this probably only saved me 10 minutes in this case, and I've lost that time and more by deciding to post this on Linked In, but still! 🤣
