With summer planting just around the corner, now is the time to start thinking about paddock preparation and your feed requirements for the season ahead.
Summer forage crops can be a valuable addition to any grazing operation, helping to:
• Produce large quantities of quality feed
• Fill the summer feed gap
• Reduce reliance on purchased feed
• Provide flexible grazing, hay or silage options
• Build up conserved feed reserves
• Support increased stocking rates for a period
• Give permanent pastures time to rest and recover
• Make productive use of manure and fertiliser
• Assist with w**d management and paddock renovation
• Level rough or uneven paddocks
• Prepare a clean seedbed before returning the paddock to permanent pasture
With the right preparation and timely planting, forage crops can provide valuable feed while also helping improve tired, rough or w**dy paddocks.
We can assist with the complete process, including spraying, fertiliser and manure spreading, cultivation, paddock preparation and planting.
Here are a few photos from some of our previous forage crop jobs.
