We started our involvement with this case back in 2017. At that point, there was a 'mystery' second vehicle, no driver and no answers for a grieving family.

Hundreds of leads, countless hours of painstaking investigation, dozens of potential persons of interest and the never give up attitude of NSW Police Force CIU finally led to the identification of the man responsible.

20 years after the crash, we could finally provide the answers that this family were looking for. We could tell them exactly how it came to be that there world was taken from them so senselessly.

Nothing will bring Rian back, and no amount of 'justice' will ever ease the pain, but at least some of the burden the family carry can be lifted.

Well done to everyone involved in this. From the original investigators, through to the current OIC, the witnesses, the ODPP and the general public, thank you ๐Ÿ™Œ

Last week saw a return to the local court scene after a long hiatus. Generally, we spend most of our time in the District Court or higher, however, just because the matter is heard in a lower level court, does not mean that the matter is any less serious.

It was a pleasure working with Sydney Criminal Lawyers in this matter and we look forward to working with them again in the future.

Did you know, if your vehicle is fitted with airbags (which face it, 99% of them are), they're also fitted with a little thing known as an Airbag Control Module or ACM.

Why would you care? Well, one day it might prove your innocence if you've been involved in a crash.

The ACM is a 'black box' which can record vehicle data immediately prior to a crash. Speed, acceleration, braking, steering angle etc.

At Collide Consultancy, interpreting this ACM data is our bread and butter. When using it in a legal case it is imperative that it is validated and interpreted correctly and not necessarily taken on face value.

If you, or someone you know, has been involved in a serious crash, it is important to know what is available to you and where to find the right people who can assist.

That's where we come in ๐Ÿ˜

We've been busy of late, working on a number of projects with NSW Police. This week was a whirlwind trip to visit the southern neighbours at Vic Pol.

Next up, we try and get justice for a 'cold case' hit and run incident that ruined a young family's life.

Don't always believe what you read.

The Greta Bus crash was without doubt the most horrific jobs we've ever seen.

Today I'm appalled at the way the results of a tireless investigation are being reported.

Charges were not "dropped".

In proceedings such as this, it is often the case the lower level back up charges will be laid as protection against a not guilty verdict in relation to the more serious charges. To report that 25 charges were dropped is so far off the mark and misleading to the public.

In entering a plea to 10 counts of Dangerous Drive Cause Death, the underlying back up charges of Negligent Drive Cause Death are no longer necessary. They are not dropped, they are no longer relevant.

Yes, the manslaughter charges were dropped, but these come with a much different set of stringent proofs that must be met beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law when compared to Dangerous Drive.

Hundreds of hours of painstaking work was put into this investigation, by some of the states best police investigators and legal minds. To insinuate that authorities lack back bone is not correct and is simply attention grabbing by mainstream media.

I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate all involved with the prosecution of this matter. The things you've seen, heard and experienced will live with you forever. But yet, you cast your own mental well-being aside in the pursuit of justice. It would be nice if that side of the story was news worthy.

Honoured to be a part of tonight's AITPM National Road Safety Week forum.

Despite our best efforts, we are currently experiencing an increase in road trauma, back to levels that are above pre-covid levels.

Tonight's forum is a meeting of minds to help decipher just how we're going to meet our goals of 50% reductions in deaths on our roads by 2030.

The over arching theme is, it starts with YOU. As drivers, it's time to recognise the role you play in not only your own, but everyone else's safety. Everyone has the right to a safe journey. Everyone should make it home safely.

Take the pledge. When you get behind the wheel, drive so others survive.

Collide Consultancy were at the scene of this incident last night in our home town.

It is a 30 km/h zone in the main street and it was a beautiful evening, so there were a large number of people out and about.
Multiple cars were collided with, one being pushed completely off the road from a stationary position.

Two interesting talking points.

1 - Did you know that roundabouts are designed not only control the flow of traffic, but for a traffic safety purposes as well? They reduce the speed of vehicles at an intersection, and they also change the angles at which vehicles might collide, away from the T-bone style, to a more angled alignment, resulting in less force being applied to occupants within the vehicle, reducing the severity of injury.

2 - this was actually a good result. If the cars weren't parked on the kerb, there is a chance that the bullet vehicle could have ended up on the kerb, in a house, in the pub, or in a shop. My kids walk along this street every day. Whilst no one was injured yesterday, this could have easily been a very different outcome.

Please, when you are driving remember that your decisions and actions can have dire consequences. There is no reason for control to be lost on this roundabout, particularly when you consider the 30 km/h speed limit.

If your kids are old enough to drive, remind them that they are in control of a deadly weapon and that one moment of poor judgement can have a lifetime of ramifications.

Been a bit quiet to start 2024, but who doesn't need a break sometimes?

Great to have been back at it over the weekend, providing hostile vehicle mitigation for the Sydney Gay and Le***an Mardi Gras! Such a pleasure to be involved with such an iconic event.

If you need security advice around any major events, help investigating an incident on our roads or want to train your staff on becoming better and safer drivers, give us a shout.
