Silvia Holcroft had the pleasure of meeting up with Johanna Du Plooy at the Day Hospitals Australia Conference in Adelaide. Johanna is the Director of Nursing, Safety, Quality, Risk, Infection Control and Clinical Education at Lions Eye Institute.

The staff at Lions Eye have been using the QPS Digital Auditing System which provides them with live results and auto produces their CQI plan. It's a team effort, which Johanna loves!

At the Day Hospitals Australia Conference in Adelaide, Silvia met up with DA Halpin, Director of Nursing from Wide Bay Centre for Digestive Diseases.

DA shared that, as a newly opened hospital, they felt exceptionally well prepared for accreditation, with all the required evidence readily available through the QPS Benchmarking Governance and Quality Management System.

Labor Backs Down: 800,000 Older Australians Keep Home Support

Labor has backed down on plans to merge the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) into the Support at Home program, guaranteeing funding for at least 800,000 older Australians until mid-2029.

The decision means vital services including Meals on Wheels, transport, gardening and cleaning can continue, protecting the role of more than 35,000 volunteers nationwide. The government says the two programs serve distinct needs, while the Greens and Coalition have criticised the delay, calling the backdown overdue.
