I admire & thank all involved in this beautiful project - 1000 poppies knitted by our local community of Woodend. There's about another 1000 that will be used in other ways. Each took about two hours to knit.
As poppies are flowers of the field rather than the garden bed, the idea was to rough out a cross shape outside the Woodend Library, but to give it a self-sown randomness, as if the poppies germinated there.
I want to honour the amazing ladies that have worked so hard, and more to the point, honour the lives of the soldiers that inspired them... (Photo credit to The Gardenist)
