True or False.

The best marketing a business can do is give customers a reason to talk about them.

True or False?

When I owned Bluebottles, my primary purpose wasn’t to create a customer.

It was to create a customer that created a customer.

Because a recommendation from a happy customer will always be more powerful than anything I can say about my own business.

Why is social media worth it?

Because you don’t want to go out of business.

That’s why.

People can’t buy from a business they’ve never heard of.

They can’t recommend a business they never see.

And they can’t remember a business that disappeared six months ago.

The businesses winning right now aren’t always the best.

They’re often the most visible.

The ones showing up.
The ones staying top of mind.
The ones reminding people they’re still there.

Visibility isn’t a luxury.

It’s survival.

Agree or disagree?

Follow Seeing Double if your business isn’t getting seen by enough people online.

Hot take.

Most businesses don’t need more customers.

They need to look after the ones they already have.

This reminds me of my 17 years at the CBA.

At a CEO awards night, our CEO asked how we could gain more customers.

The room was full of answers.

More advertising.
More marketing.
More promotions.

My answer was different.

At the time, we already had around 10 million customers.

On average, they only held 1.5 products with us.

My question was simple.

Why are we looking for more customers when we’re not fully looking after the ones we already have?

Why not understand their needs better and help them with more of the products and services they actually need?

That idea stuck with me throughout my career.

And the more businesses I work with today, the more I believe it’s true.

Sometimes growth isn’t about finding more people.

It’s about serving the people you already have better.

If you inherited a business tomorrow, what type of business would you want it to be?

Not one you currently own.
Not one you’ve worked in.

A business that lands in your lap tomorrow.

What are you choosing and why?

I’d probably take a car wash. 👇

Let’s talk about this.

If you could give every business owner one piece of advice, what would it be?

Just one sentence.

No books.
No courses.
No motivational quotes.

Just one lesson you’ve learnt the hard way.

Mine would be:

The day you stop telling people about your business is the day they start forgetting about it.

What’s yours?

Most businesses quit too soon.

Not because they aren’t good enough.

Because they expected results too quickly.

The businesses that win on social media aren’t usually the smartest.

They aren’t the funniest.

They aren’t always the best at creating content.

They simply keep showing up.

Week after week.

Month after month.

Eventually something interesting happens.

People start recognising the name.

Remembering the business.

Referring their friends.

Making enquiries.

The challenge for most business owners is that consistency takes time.

And time is usually the one thing they don’t have.

That’s why many choose to outsource their social media.

Not because they can’t do it themselves.

Because they already have a business to run.

Social media isn’t a sprint.

It’s a visibility game.

Let’s talk about this.

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about social media?

I’ll go first.

Posting isn’t the hard part.

Staying visible long enough for people to trust you is.

Most businesses don’t fail because they have a bad product or service.

They fail because not enough people know they exist.

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about social media?

Follow Seeing Double if you run a business and want more people seeing what you do.

What’s something customers EXPECT now that would’ve sounded completely ridiculous 10 years ago?

I’ll start.

Messaging a business at 10pm and expecting an immediate reply. 👀

I think a lot of business owners are quietly exhausted right now.

Trying to run the business.
Trying to keep staff busy.
Trying to keep customers coming in.

Then on top of that, they’re expected to somehow become full-time content creators too.

That’s why so many businesses disappear online for weeks at a time.

Not because they don’t care.
Because they’re overwhelmed.

The problem is… when your business goes quiet online, people assume your business is quiet in real life too ♟️

That’s exactly why I started Seeing Double.

To help businesses stay visible while they focus on actually running the business.

If your business feels invisible lately, follow my page.

Hard truth.

Some businesses are not invisible because they’re bad.

They’re invisible because they’re scared to be seen.

Scared of judgement.
Scared of posting too much.
Scared of looking silly.

Meanwhile another business with half the talent is showing up every day and taking their customers.

Visibility wins. ♟️
