Clever Little Schmidt Branding and websites you can't wait to show off!

23/07/2026

Been busy working with a couple of incredible women on their Shopify stores, so a bit quiet on socials.

The first implementation session today was AAAHHHHmazing! I cannot wait to see the final version of these stores!

Sometimes you just need a fresh perspective and an expert in your corner to answer questions and guide you along the way.

Do yourself a favour and open your own website, on your phone... right now. (Or, after you read this) 👀

Mobile website traffic is roughly double that of desktop (or laptop) traffic, which means most of your website visitors are finding you while they're sitting on the couch, in a waiting room... on another kind of seat (ewww, this is not where phones belong!)

You might have heard that so many times, right but another fun fact?

Cart abandonment rates sit at around 90% on mobile 🤯 ... Likely because it's just too difficult to finish purchasing (too many hoops to jump through, or hard to find the right info), or customers don't fully trust your site to add their payment info.

How much revenue do you think you're you losing to the smaller screen?

NGL, this is one of my all-time favourite projects, and client.

When Lauren took over as custodian of Kuddly Kids Buderim (a legit institution that's been around for more than 48 years), she knew the store needed a re-brand to reflect the childhood magic she planned to create.

The brand brief was 'chubby baby... feels wiggly but soft and delightfully squishy', and Lauren's love of sage green (IYKYK) has to be incorporated with the classic Australian colours, and some cute brand blobs and flourishes that help bring it to life. The biggest testament to the success of the brand? It hasn't changed in 5 years. Some evolution, sure, but the core of it is the same as it was when we first launched.

The Shopify store needed a whooollleee lot of love! From figuring out how to get access and ownership of the domain, to planning out the collections, navigation and making sure the shop was easy for parents to navigate with a bebe in their arms at 3am, or the aunt who forgot what date is is and needs a birthday gift urgently (it me).

What makes this project wonderful is the collaboration, Lauren's ability to understand her customers and keep their needs front of mind, express what she is thinking without holding back (even if it doesn't seem to make sense outside the project bubble), and trust me to make it all work.

If you've read this far... go and follow Kuddly Kids, check out the website and see what treasures you can find for the little people in your life!

Bookings and my DMs are open if you have a project you want to chat about – I would LOVE to help!

Caravanning Australia is a print magazine that's been running for more than 30 years, with a website that looked like it had been around just as long, and had run out of car snacks.

Not anymore.

Cleaner layout, more focus on the stunning imagery, and a functional, dynamic content backend the small but mighty team can manage without dreading it that something will break.

The publication is about enjoying the journey around Australia, and now the website is a place to visit on the way too.

Time away from screens is one of my favorite ways to boost my creative brain.

I’m so grateful to live in Freo these days, it’s such an incredibly beautiful place!

Your website can (and should) be your best marketing and sales tool. Here’s a couple of quick things you can check (and maybe change)

1️⃣ Is it SUUUUPPPEERRRRR obvious what visitors are supposed to do next? Like… more obvious than my teenage niece’s attempts at bronzer application. Be honest. Do you want them to call? Book an appointment, send an email? Add to cart? Learn more about you?

2️⃣ Let’s talk about trust baby. Trust signals – the green flags visitors are looking for so they know you’re legit, your product is awesome and your service is exceptional. Reviews & testimonials are the obvious ones, ‘featured in’ or press clippings are great, or anything you have to show that real people luuurrrvveee you. In a pinch, if you don’t have any of these things – a solid, clear and genuinely helpful FAQs section on the homepage explaining your shipping, returns, refunds and who you are works pretty well too.

3️⃣ Your product page is not the place to be excessively verbose, creative or clever (says me with this loooong caption). Make sure your description is clear before you sprinkle the sales pitch in. And the quickest of wins – put the price up top, friend. Don’t make people hunt for it, they’ll get mad.

4️⃣ Do a run through of landing on the homepage, adding a popular product to cart and getting right to the point of ‘pay now’. Is there somewhere you can cut out a click? Any extra costs only showing at the checkout page (be honest with yourself here, or get a friend to do a run-through. AI can’t click all the buttons for you). Shopify handles this really well, but there are often some small tweaks we can make to smooth out the journey – like snacks on a road trip.

If any of these made your eye twitch… take it as a sign. Drop a comment or send me a DM, I’d be happy to take a look and let you know the quick wins.

New branding needs a new website to match. This cutie was done a whiiiilllee back (in 2024), but I found it in the archives and wanted to show her off!

Oh My Frankie (super cute, check them out) came looking for help to splash their new branding all over their store, ahead of a new product launch.

So of course, I did it in a day and thus, Shopify Glow-Ups were born. We put the branding onto a new theme, custom fonts, some CSS tweaks, and made it simple to add new banners and products that made it easy for customers to click 'buy now'.

Once we'd done the glow-up, we added a basic welcome offer and single email flow in Klaviyo... enough to get the email engine started, and ready to take off.

What do you think? She's cute, huh?

Finding the friction points sounds simple, but not every ecomm site nails a smooth path to purchase.

It’s much harder to spot the leaks when you’re in it, and they’re not always huge changes that make the biggest impact on your sales.
