"The time has come," the Framer said,
"To talk of other things:
Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—
Of retirement—and things—
And why the sea is getting hot—
We all know pigs have wings." (Sorry, Lewis Carrol)

And so, on the first of July 2025 I will no longer be offering my services as a professional picture framer. I've had a great 25 years serving the artistic community and the general public and, in that time, I've been granted the privilege of framing some fabulous artworks, artifacts, and personal treasures.

My thanks to all my customers over the years and you'll still find me at weekend markets in Northam, York and Toodyay, where I'll be still masquerading as my alter ego The writer Dan Cotton

I have plenty of Matboard and Frame Mouldings, including full size items and off-cuts and I'm still happy to do the odd job using the above until stocks dry up, or repairs such as glazing. If you are an artist or simply thinking of going into the industry I have all the equipment for sale at very good prices.

Today is the anniversary of 45 years + with Deb.

Where did those years go?

Interesting that the AFL intends preceding all its matches with a period of SILENCE in respect of domestic violence and the deaths of women.

SILENCE is the problem and perhaps that is why this seems like an oxymoron.

Has anyone bothered to watch the latest “crime” series on the ABC?

It would have to be the worst of the worst twaddle ever produced commercially. Even the cast of well know actors spuddle through their lines with hint of their personal embarrassment due to the thinness of the trivial script.

The script bolstered by long and boring shots of landscapes and old buildings. The wooden dialogue is probably more boring than anything Agatha Christie could have concocted and the only thing that might make it worse would be Johanna Lumley gushing lugubriously over the abundant and non plot enhancing, time consuming, scenery.

I am of course referring to “Murder in Provence”.

Defo day time for the blue rinse set but not peak viewing on a Saturday night.

We can produce fantastic series in Australia (mystery road et al) so why is the ABC importing and inflicting this absolutely woeful blather on its already shrinking audience?

Don’t start me on Thursday night footy that is even transmitted on the digital network so there is no escape.
